I was marshalling the Xball both nights at Campaign, and i will be honest and say that i was disgusted by the attitudes and behaviour of some of the players involved.

To the Ugly Ducklings and Team Russia and Sweden i thought that you guys were the ultimate professionals, accepting of decisions and you played amazing paintball.

But to some of the guys on Team USA, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Your collective behavious after the game vs the Danes was a disgrace. In one of the games when i pulled one of the USA players, he went mad and started throwing a tantrum that was caught on camera by one of the Ugly Ducks on the upper concourse. If one of them could post the video of the net then it makes interesting viewing! The player in question should be ashamed, as i would have thought that such behaviour from a world famous supposedly pro player would have been beneath him. Obviously i was wrong.

The abuse that was dished out to Steve Morris was also something that made i could not believe! The responses that he got off some of the Xball coaches and players was a disgrace. i spent a fair bit of time with Steve this event in the bar and in the Xball games and what was clear to me was that here is a guy, who is dedicated to the sport, trying to make a go of a bad situation under difficult circumstances. He was left with no judges for the event and had to beg guys to judge, i was only to happy to help him out as he asked nicely;) but others were not so forthcoming. where were the guys who were supposed to judge? The otehr Xball teams not involved......?? I doubt that many other people would have willingly put themselves under the same working conditins that Steve put himself under, yet nobody cut him any slack or seemed to appreciate his efforts in any way.

Steve, congrats on the season of Xball, and if you need any help in the future then drop me a line.

:)

No, i was the only English judge out there on the Friday night judging with some Swedish guys, for the USA Denmark game and the Sweden Russia game, and then i judged the Sweden Denmark game with some of the Mayhem Tigers, and some of the guys from Method. The rest of my team were asleep in the hotel, which is where i should have been as i am paying for judging all day friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as Xball till 11 both nights.....am so tired!

:)

Well, not a dig at the marshalling, but am I the only one who noticed that in X-ball, wiping seems to have become part of the skill and tactics?

There were players who were hit at the start of the snake who suddenly decide to crawl up the snake, leaving a trail of paint where he just wiped it as he went?

people cheat more in Xball because it is not so much of a loss if you get caught and penaltys are applied. Whereas in 7man wiping is a 3-4-1 and will ruin ur chances of winning a game, in xball, its not that much of a loss so people take the chances more to cheat.

and i was judging the other tape...the 3 t bags in particular, so i didnt see anything of the snake;)

Sam,

Hats off to you mate. You and people like you are why I try so hard even if I mess up sometimes.

YOU are the man, since it is so obvious how dedicated you are to the sport and since you have pride in the work you do as a ref. I was going to post in another thread to say what a good job you guys did on the Splatch field. I very carefully watched our team (€uro Allstars) from the opposite end and saw that you guys were on top of things all the time.

I too was embarrassed over the behavior of Team USA. It seemed like all it took for them to totally go beserk was to get behind a couple of points and to believe that what they thought were missed calls was a conspiracy of bias. Once they starting going mad, they became easy prey for the Danes because they never seemed to get any focus on the game like I had seen in Stockholm. (Maybe a certain guest instigated the chaos?) I especially hate the way they insulted the refs at the end of the game and accused me of being some kind of traitor.

On a positive note, I think the event at CC was a specator success as far as presentation was concerned and pure crowd energy since the crowd were all around the field giving a sense of closenesss and direct participation.

Colin was great with his great field design and all his hard work to get the Nations Cup field set up. Niall and the crew he dedicated to the project were outstanding and fun to work with. Mad props!

I really appreciate all the hard work and effort put in by Jonas Daun of Brutal Deluxe with others from Powertrip, Järngänget, Chill Out, Mayhem Tigers, Method and of course Sam of Shockwave Am.

Sam, I can't thank you enough for your hard work and your encouragement.:)

Bring up on top of the concourse we had a good view of all the field, but could not see what was going on down the snake. The action around the T-Bags and in the centre X was wicked and the buzz from the crowd was amazing. I have never experienced anything like that from a game of ball, and I was watching!!!

From memory we did not see much abuse from Team USA but I could have left for the bar just after the game finished.

Top job anyway, and a huge thanks to all involved for running such an amazing specticle. It was awesome to watch!

OK was sat with QP watching this and it was amazing and yes the snake made for some great encounters.

I think the USA team were rattled when they kept getting boos and the Danes got the biggest cheers.

The more they lost and got booed the worse USA played and the more aggressive they got to marshalls and "bad calls"

I would also like to send my congrats to Sam. You did great work all weekend mate and after your complaints on other marshalling (from other events) I can see that you practice what you preach and you and the team were the best field all week end.

Back to X-Ball and I loved it, Want to play an think it will be the biggest break through for paintball.
