WWII Campaign - Bastogne
This is the first event to be run under the new name of Therapy Paintball and will take me into my 6th year as a paintball event organiser. It is also the third in the popular series of World War II themed events that will end with the Bunker Productions event WWII Campaign – Downfall in December. You can expect a scenario that will cater for all types of player, from all out gun fighters to sneaky snipers, from committed field-craft aficionados’ to the heavy artillery runner gunners and everything in between. There will be a complex and multi layered scoring system that allows any player to do their bit towards securing victory for their side. Complex props will be available to give players a fully interactive experience. You will receive detailed information in the form of a player pack and game map, there will also be special missions thrown in to the mix on the day to keep the generals on their toes. There will be a night game to be played on over half of the site, partially illuminated by floodlight towers allowing for plenty of sneaky play through the shadows yet leaving a safely lit exit corridor. There will also be a Top Gear styled challenge for the budding tank drivers, the ‘player in a reasonably small tank’ on the Saturday evening will allow only the best drivers to drive the tanks in the Sunday’s main event.
The Scenario
The Siege of Bastogne is based on an engagement between American and German forces at the Belgian town of Bastogne, as part of the larger Battle of the Bulge. The goal of the German offensive is the harbour at Antwerp. In order to reach it before the Allies can regroup and bring their superior air power to bear; German mechanised forces have to seize the roadways through eastern Belgium. Because all seven main roads in the Ardennes mountain range converge on the small town of Bastogne, control of its crossroads will be vital to the German attack.
The Generals
The 101st Airborne using the 502nd PIR commanded and led by General Andrew ‘Tank’ Cannon of the US army has been besieged within the town and has been tasked with the protection of one section of the village which has been divided into slices of ‘pie’, they must defend against the German attack from the North.
Ordered to attack the same section of the village is the XLVII Panzer Corps under Commander Gen. Niall ‘Niallizt’ Von Carroll is tasked with advancing three Paintball Panzers in to take the village church and town hall that will cover the main crossroad so vital to the Axis battle plan.
