For years theyve been discussing unification between the PSP and the NPPL mainly due to the financial state and when one finally disappears, up pops a new league to replace it?
I can see the logic behind the teams being left out by the PSP wanting a place to play but where will the new league get all the funding?
The NPPL with its rich backer couldnt even afford it.
And is it a good thing for paintball to continue on the divided path? Seems like a lot of the US guys are thinking in that way or is it just an unfortunate outcome due to circumstances the PSP couldnt control (ie funding of a pro league with more then 12 teams?)

This new league is gonna be presumably based upon two premises, firstly, it has come about because a bunch of teams felt excluded from the PSP recent reshuffling of the decks and secondly, it's gonna be 7-man.
And this latter aspect is from their point of view gonna prove successful in the belief there are a lot of teams out there who wanna play 7 man in preference to XBall.
I don't pretend to know whether or not there are enough teams in the US who think like this but my gut instinct is not enough to make this league successful.

And when I use the word 'successful' I am really talking about not losing money.
These are not gonna be a 'bells and whistles' type promotions (presuming they make it past HB 09), it's gonna have to be bare-bones and go for the logistics rather than aesthetics.

The only way I can see this being a success in terms of the teams and players is if somebody funds it and has little care for his money.

I genuinely wish them well coz I hate to see anybody fail in paintball but I'm afraid history is nagging me on this one. If the NPPL, with all its money, couldn't successfully promote a league in the US and go up against the might of the PSP, then it augers badly for any people following with a like mind.

Welcome to "There should only be one league (as long as it's mine)" part 3.
Chris, I'd be very interested to read your comments re this new league, we both know the usual suspects running it ... one of which hasn't made himself Mr Popular in the industry but do you think this will affect his ability to drag in sponsors, do you think they can succeed where the NPPL self-eviently did not.

Lemme know what you think please mate.

Cheers.
