will aftermarket industry suffer?

Im pretty new to the tourney scene and i keep hearing about a 15bps limit. Im no paintball god and i can only walk my zeroed cocker to 14bps according to the counter, so i dont think the rule will particularly bother me. Although i can understand some stand points for imposing this rule my question is about the aftermarket industry being hurt. What i mean is that i have spent loads as have most of you guys making your gun more efficient and lightening cocking mass(in my case, dont know bout out markers), and all the other gizmos that go with owning a top end marker. But now that this rule will come into affect doesnt that make guns like the G7 redundant when you can buy an ion and still be firing hot. Most guns nowadays can hit 15bps easy, there will be no need to get any aftermarket bits to make your friends go oooooooooh can i touch it? .(for me this is half the fun of owning a marker.) Someone help me with this issue as i havnt slept in 3 days thinking about it. :( :(

I don't think it will effect it, as people still love their very shiney things.

And I would put 20p on zero Pro teams shooting the ION ever. Not because of its performance. Not because the Pro team is any more vain than normal. Its because sponsors like their flagship teams to shoot their number 1 marker, and kids and adults alike want to be like them. I believe the ION gives an affordable pass to anybody new to the sport, to get out there and compete. Wish their was similar back when I started playing.

I would agree but a lot of ballers ive met who are tourney regulars seem to excel at saving money on everything from paint to top end markers! I cant stop picturing the day i turn up at a tourney with the lightest, fastest, shiniest most customised people painter just to have a tourney vetran p#ss on my fireworks with the phrase "nice gat but wots the point your not allowed to fire 30bps no matter how cool you look!" On the other hand i too would still try and pimp my gat but then again i dont excel in saving money. Maybe if i had just started out paintball and i was still a rental customer i probably would have bought an ion and spread the "whats the point" word concerning pimped markers and thats where my origional queastion rears its ugly head again! People like you and me who own nice shiney angels, timmy and cockers ect, could all write a book on the joys of pimping gat, but all those rental guys who experience or watch sup'air for the first time and go "i wanna do THAT!" As i did. Then find out about this rule and then their thinking "whats the point!?" when it comes to purchasing a new timmy or the ion next to it for less than quarter of the price, still with a couple of bps above the stated maximum to spare. Maybe this rule may have an affect in the long term rather than the short. :( :( :( :( :( :(

I think it's a fair point. I would imagine markers will just develop in different areas. For example, it will be in terms of zero user maintenance, zero kick giving a rock solid shooting platform, smallest, lightest etc It will no longer just be about which can produce the highest ROF.

I think it will probably be a move in the right direction.

You're serious then...aren't you?

People will always want better for cheaper...it doesn't matter. While, for most hitting 15 BPS right on isnt so easy to get all the time...and you still need aftermarket parts to produce main parts for the guns. While, in theory, this would have an effect on aftermarket parts...dont forget that many people just get bored of old parts, or something breaks, and they buy something new...whether its a new backblock, or bolt, or grips...whatever is called a "necessity" by the player. Remember those nublets buying a Spyder, and throwing an electronic frame on it is still a major part of manufactering and aftermarket profits.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, its true. The pressure will be on to fix more things, rather than spitting out 31 BPS...not that thats a bad thing ;)

The same as investing $130 on a Warp Feed, and then throwing a gravity fed hopper on it.

Maybe the aftermarket people will evolve into an idea of making cheap parts for more guns like the Trilogy, and Ion...leaving those willing to throw $1500 on a gat, in the dust... :p

Thanks for the imput guys. Lets hope your right coz i for one think its great fun thinking of new excuses to tell the missus why i have no money, and getting to the postie before her. It adds that little extra bit of danger to my life. ;) ;)
