That's kinda curious as over here it seems the reverse. Most airline and airport security are now familiar enough with the "markers" they don't even blink--as long as it isn't carry on luggage--but it's the air tanks that freak them out. Besides, the airlines are likely to give you more trouble than the police/customs these days. It's become the explicit policy of some airlines not to allow any "gun-shaped objects" on flights at all. That could cover loads of things, certainly markers, so i'd hope it dosn't spread...
