Walk ons

Firstly im guessing your quite a newbie Mr Piggy, so high and welcome to PGi.

Its Walk Ons , Not Walk-Ins ...

Walk ons are actually cheap in most cases to be honest with you, if you take a punters day for an example to shot a full day and maybe take a top package of around 1500- 2000 paintballs for that day it will probably cost in the region of £100 +..

Now Walk On players use all there own equipment and pay a green fee and around £20 - £30 a box of 2000 paint balls..

Now the green fee we pay goes towards the cost of the marshal/ food/ air refills etc.

In most cases an average of £40 - £45 pound per player, but more often than enough many players will shot on average about 2 boxes of paint each on these days.. so the cost does slowly add up.

Tournies how ever start straight away with a general entrance fee of £40 before you have even shot a ball..

Paintball by no means is a cheap sport, but hey where else can you get to shot up your mates and still hopefully be friends at the end of the day..:D:D

Enjoy the forums

okay thanks.
yes you guessed right, i am new:D

its just that, i was looking at website for local centre, and normal rec-ball day was 15 pounds entry.
and then the walk-on was 55 pounds, i was like whoaaaaaaaaa:eek:.

so the paintball packages of 1500/2000, are they usualy good value?

its just that im a full time student living of a loan. im in the territorial army, which brings in a bit of cash, but still its all quite expensive, which means i cant do it as much :(

the thing is, i can very hapily go through 300 balls (or less) in a an 8 round day. i really dont need to fire lots to have fun. the army has kinda taught me to shoot effectivly, like a pump would teach one to shoot effectivly.

what about simple get together with local players in the woods (outlaw, i think its called), is this popular at all?

i imagine thats a lot cheaper

i see lots of forums talking about get together's, but i cant figure which ones are at walkons, and which are outlaw.

thank you all so much
have A nice day

Walk ons are crazy cheap, The one I go to is 45 quid which includes 2000 paintballs, then it's 25 quid for each box of paint, the paint they use is about 28-32 quid online.

If I went to a go-ballistic site, that'd cost 140 quid brought in 100s :p

that £55 for the walkon will probably include a box (2000 balls)
were as most sites will charge about £100 for a box on normal days + the £10 rental ro so.

it is definatly cheaper to go to a walkon, or at the very least it better value for money :D

thanks for the replies

seems like a great deal. but i live in the south.

-south london
-kent
-surrey
-sussex

areas.

do people play much outlaw here?

oh, and in regards to buying paint from the field, they say its always cheaper entry when you buy thier paint.
well as i stated before i would not use that much paint, do people ever split boxes?
or could i bring the same paint back on another walk-on day, and count it as thier paint

thanks everyone, this is such a welcoming PB community:)

people split boxes if they are in the same position as you, or strapped for cash :D
and i dont see any reason as to why you cant bring the paint back if you have left over, as long as its still in a good condition.

I don't know anyone who plays outlaw over here. It carries too many risks to yourself, the public and to the future of our sport.

If it all goes wrong, you have no emergency procedures to deal with casualties, if you "pop a cap" in some poor passer by's face then they may lose an eye/worse. This could lead to influential people/press asking negative questions about paintball and paintballers.

These are not the only reasons, but they're the best i can come up with for now.

So, no, outlaw is not advisable.

It's just not worth it considering how cheap a walk on is, especially if you only shoot 300 balls a day. blimey.

We run quite a good one at Warren Wood in Herts. Come and check it out. Just off J25 of the M25
