With all the talk of sanbaggers thought I'd put this up.
When do you think a team should move up a division?
Twisted made the Sunday club in Am B at both the Max Masters (16th, 1 point ahead of Evil pigs :D :D :D) and Campaign (11th). In germany we lost all but 1 of our quarter finals game and at campaign we lost all 3. But as we made the Sunday club should we move up to Am A???

Your thoughts please of not just Twisted but in general.

Players not teams

With the millenium card id system. How hard would it be to work out some sort of points system for individual players.
Then limit the number of points per team in any one division.
Say: 50 points Nov, 100 points Am and 200 points Pro/ player.
Then limit Nov teams to 400 points, which means they can effectivly have one Am player and six Nov maximum.
Limit Am to 800 and no limit for pro teams (obviously).
It would instantly stop the sandbagging, as when the teams players register, the players points would make up the eams criteria. If a player moves down from Pro to Am, they can play with an Am team for a season to lower thier status to Am.
Without doubt last weekend I see whole Am teams in the Nov division and Pro players playing for thier Am/Nov teams!
Seems these teams want the glory, but just cannot cut it in thier proper division!
As for Twisted, seems like you are in the right division there Paul.

if you made the sunday club constantly this year but didnt get to the finals id say that be amB next year too and if you start to make the finals constantly then move to amA the next year. that insures that you have a fair shot at gettin to the semis/finals more constant on a higher level of competition easier and dont fall down again or become frustrated of the not so good succes!

Paul - I think the general feeling is, a team should not move up or be pressured to move up UNTIL there is consistancy in their game. Just because a team wins a tourament is not a good enough reason, nor is a few visits to the sunday club.

Now if a team wins 3 tournaments in the course of a year, or is one of the final 4 at every tournament they compete in, then they should think about moving up. Or if a team finishes in the top 4 of the Millennium rankings for their division.

TonyF - what a great idea, wish I had thought of it - come to thin of it I have - GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE :)

The only problem is it has to be done on a European/International level to be fair.

Here's why - Team Joe's Diner, plays together whuppin peoples buts from here to the end of the earth. But they do this either in the Nordic Series or M25 or french series. They do this for 2 years and are basically as skilled as many AmA teams, but they can tachnically enter MS events as novices.

Until we can get some control/organization that covers most of the players in most of the series it won't be completely fair.

Which would be the EPA? Which will happen when the benefits of EPA membership - fellow tournament organisers upholding bans, a united disciplinary committee to adjudicate at tribunals, having your events scores count towards EPA Euro rankings, just like the PGI Euro rankings back in the day, an EPA membership that entitles you to play all series events, benefits to EPA members like discounts from certain fields/manufacturers/shops/magazines - are announced to the world and the Nordic Series, Midland Masters, M25, German 5-Man, Camp Masters etc. all come into the fold, et voila!

Easy, eh Goose?;)

Goose: You speak the truth. And the way to get the Nordic Series and others to implement it is that the biggest and most important series in Europe does it first. Whining about sandbagging is not a problem exclusive for the Millennium Series.

But... Millennium Organizers, THIS IS WHY THE EPA SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ID CARDS, not event organizers.

ALL Events!

What will make this work, is if ALL event organisers in europe insist on the i.d. system.
The players will not get a choice, as with Millennium. no card, no play!
Forget politics and ego's. If an event does not adopt the system, then registered players do not play it. If a player does not agree, he does not play!
If this is not sorted soon, you will see more and more novice players becoming increasingly frustrated with the sandbagging and they will stop spending thier money on the big events.
I admit after this year at Campaign, I will be thinking long and hard at entering a novice team next year. Although in saying that Team Zone shone through and show the cheats (because that is what the sandbagging teams are) that there is some fantastic "up and coming" players.
We all as players should want this and if paintball is to stand a chance of ever becoming a recognised sport it needs to project a professional image. The way it is at the moment we have no central organisation and will never achive sport status! That is a simple fact.
Once we get the "status it will open the doors to some major sponsorship. Believe me, I know of several major companies (currently involved in F1) just itching to get involved in sponsoring paintball.
