According to the thread in SYB, it's simply an LCD with the IR3's gated feed, ram and 14-way.

Apart from any benefits you may get from the gated feed, I doubt if there is a performance change over the 2002 LCD.

I do wonder if they're simply being produced to use up any remaining stocks of LCD parts.

I'm trying to - they're as ugly as sin!

I'd be interested to see if any LCD 2003s are made without a chain grip, if not it perhaps suggests that getting rid of these grips was a significant reason for releasing this new LCD model.

As long as they cut off that cutlass guard, that's nearly as bad as the chain grip!

I doubt if they would though, 'cause that would mean they'd then use the 3-styla (sp?) trigger and new opto-board, unless they milled the grip for the older boards & triggers. You'd end up having COPS as the only difference between the IR3 and the new LCD. Most of the IR3 owners I know don't use COPS, so why pay the extra for the IR3?

The question is:

How WDP prevents an user to slap a spaceframe on that thing with an IR3 board?

If even with minimal modifiying you would be able to do that the IR3 would seem pretty overpriced.

IMHO it would be possibile.

Opinions?

but you still wouldn't have cops, also the IR3 board doesn't fit in the LCD frame without quite a bit of modification.
