Electric triggers became very popular a couple of years ago and now they are more or less standard on tournaments. Then came the electric eyes wich more or less made ball chops impossible... So what I wonder now is - What is the next big thing in paintball going to be? (in equpiment that is)

Good question

should be a interesting thread

there also seems to be a large increase in the motorised hopper range now.

I know electric cockers have been around 4 a while if a little rare but i think we will see the first main stream electric cockers this year if im not mistaken arent belsales up to something:confused:

Also hopefully see some more custom impulses and matrixs this year to and some interesting 22k versions of previous favorites

I hear there is gonna be an electronic version of ROBBO!!

Personally I think one of the coolest improvements in gear is the multi bore barrels such as the JT, Dark series, CP pro, and Freak. I have a suggestion, though, to make them a little better though which I hope catches on: make them a little more like straight bores by either lengthening the back a bit or adding in with the kits an additional tip that is more moderately honed, say to .691 or .693, for the small to mid bores then the usual .696 to .700 bored tip for the mid-large to large bores. .700 may be very effective most of the time, but for heaven's sake it is a GAS HOG, A BITCH TO CLEAN, AND WHEN YOU DON'T CLEAN IT PERFECTLY OR DON'T HAVE TIME TO CLEAN IT AT ALL IT DOESN'T SHOOT CLEAN OR WORK WORTH A CRAP!!! In short, I'd like to see the multi bores adapted in that way so that they retain their existing advantages but attain those offered by straight bores too.

Another thing I'd like to see is textured faced triggers and trigger shoes. This would allow your finger a slightly better grip on the face of the trigger and thus makes it slightly easier to shoot. We have all kinds of sculpted and polished triggers, especially for the Angel and Cocker, but it seems only the Blade and the ring actually seem to be designed with the idea in mind of making them easier to feel and shoot on reflex better. Checkering or knurling is commonplace with hand tools, pens, and surgical instruments, and paintball already uses it with grips (notably DYE) and tank covers such as the Lok Sok, so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to put bumps or ridges on the face of triggers, particularly with Cockers where a better grip on the trigger face would make short stroking even less likely. I know the issue is addressed by textured fingertipped gloves, but for those of us that don't have textured fingers on our gloves or wear fingerless gloves or no gloves at all do not enjoy this advantage, and even such gloves don't provide as much grip as a bumpy or grooved trigger would.

Oh, and another thing that would be nice to see would be the old design for the All American barrel with single column rather than double column spiral venting which was more gas efficient than the current style. I hate to have to go to the AA or Freak Teardrop which although is an effective barrel style has ports with the nasty tendency to hold paint in them rather than let it squeegee and/or blow out of them and slightly louder when I want a 10" AA or Freak. YES I'M PICKY BUT FOR THE HIGHEST PRICED (but not by any means unjustifiably so) BARREL OTHER THAN THE BOOMSTICK AND TI-BOOMER I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE.

Also I think another big thing in paintball that would be big is more super premium paint. Diablo pretty much drew a line in the sand when they put Imperial on the wide open market: they have pretty much made the best paint possible for the public and pretty much no one can inarguably beat it. Evil Yellow All Star is not made year round nor widely sold. Only Powerball voodoo comes to mind as being a contender, but it's not as widely seen in the top tournaments, which is a shame because it deserves more credit than it gets sometimes. Imperial can be bought by anyone 365 days a year. Other paints either are thicker in the shell or thinner in the fill or can't be found everywhere and by everyone. And quite honestly I haven't heard of it ever being bad at a major event when money was on the line. I have and everyone else that know that attended at least one particular major tournament (which I won't name here because I know it's probably happened tons of times) have as well seen SPONSORED TEAMS of paints other than Diablo ditch their given paint and either secretly or in full view buy Diablo paint to stay competitive when their paint wasn't working. Yes, on more than just a few days in more than just a few places (but none as significant as the instance that came to mind) I have seen Zap, Nelson, and RPS teams beg, barter, or buy Imperial when their stuff was either bouncing or exploding in barrels or for other reasons EVEN WHEN THE OTHER PAINT COMPANY NAME WAS ON THEIR JERSEYS. I would like to know of other any maker of any product in any industry able to say that.

Quite simply, if someone else has the balls, literally or figuratively, to put out a better, more widely available, and cheaper paint, I welcome them to do so. And no, I'm not in any way influenced or paid by Diablo. They don't pay me a dime, give me one free ball, or offer me one airline or bus ticket. I watch, referee, and play games and tournaments wherein it's used, and simply nothing can beat it. At the same time, it's as great a challenge for Diablo to keep up with itself and the reputation, progress, and impact it has made. If they have a new paint to beat their own flagship, I'm drooling to see it and shoot it.

I'd go along with KillerOnion. . . I think paint is where improvement is going happen, guns and barrels have pretty much peaked (as Killer say the multi bore barrel could do with some fine tuning) ....however I think if the rumours that are about that Angels have a capability to have an in-built chrono that would be pretty amazin and save loads of hassle. . . .just think no more waitin in queues just press a button shoot a couple and of you go!

Intresting replies! When I started the thread i had no idea what i thought myself, but now i've given it some thought:

1. I think we will se more changes in feeding. New hoppers are coming along, but frankly - they aren't that different, are they? Instead I think we will se different feedsystems, such as AGD:s warpfeed, that will be able to keep up with higher rates of fire.

2. Someone (in another thread i think) mentioned builtin chronos on Angels, intresting! Anyone else remember Cyber9000? If it's true, think about this: An Angel with the A.I.R system, all connected. The chrono in the marker checks the velocity and sends signals the the airsystem, which chnges the pressure as needed. After 4-5 shots the marked has correct veolcity and when the temperature changes the velocity changes accordingly. No more hot guns!

Electronics have become a part of paintball equipment and i'm sure the next revolutions will pretty much be a matter of finding out where it is possible to put a microchip and what it can do.
(electronic barrels? just a matter of time probably ;))
