whats the best jersey and paints to get?

I don't really want to look like a try hard and go for the 'all gear no idea' look. as I genuinly have no idea. but what's something sensible to wear until I can justify spending money on pro gear?

Light & baggy t shirt / hooody & trousers
Or heavy duty workwear trousers
Jeans will do the job unless you get wet
