Bump

Maybe I should have put "Could paintball be next to be put in the European Court Spotlight?"

I am surprised how few have read the above posting, but it is a bit boring??

Maybe Hotpoint will comment?

Steve

If you want to have a look go to the left hand side of the page and click "Press Release" last 7 days and it is on the 18/3/04

Leeds....eh up lad!!
MMMMMMMMM

Not good.... could this be the thin end of the wedge?
........as Bully says.... "What next?"

"In September 1994 the public authority issued an order prohibiting OMEGA from allowing games which involved the deliberate shooting at people using infra-red or laser beams, in other words, 'playing at killing' people. The reason given for the order was inter alia that public order was endangered because the simulated killing and the consequent trivialisation of violence were contrary to common fundamental values."

I should point out that the Court was merely upholding a decision by the German Federal Courts.

If you think that the European Courts should summarily overule the decisions of national governments then you must be rabidly pro-EU then? ;)

We've got to make sure that it never gets that far. In any case if "simulated killing" is going to be banned then Fencing is is a lot of trouble :D

Unfortunately anything remotely militaristic will be a sore point in Germany which has a serious burden of history. It's sad but true

Look at it this way. If a national government bans Paintball at least we've got another court to appeal to... I also hope we'd get better lawyers

The majority of Power is held by the Council Of Ministers not the Commission. Personally I'd break the Commision and the Council and give power directly to the elected EU Parliament and a new elected President

The European Courts have practically naff-all to do with the EU anyway. They are very independent as the judiciary should be

yeah hotpoint has a point going there....in germany they do have a lot of history etc....

plus can you see laser tag getting banned over here for 'simulated killing' hell just go out fox hunting and do it for real!!!
not a brilliant comparison ill agree but you get where im coming from.......if paintball were to be affected due to a simulation of killing then anything that involves shooting a moving target of anykind, fencing, marshall arts perhaps would possibly also be affected?????

cant see it happening here myself.....its just the germans they are all potty! ;)
