Well the tournament looked to be a great event when we turned up saturday morning and started playing. Great venue, fields etc etc. All looked great.

Then came sunday. Now it didnt help that we didnt qualify for the semi's but thats our fault. But while watching the finals i saw the following events un-fold -

1) A player spatt in the face of another player after a game and branded the player a cheat - the obvious pushing and exchanging of insults followed

2) Another player was seen to swear and throw his goggles after the game and then once again begin verbal insult throwing with another player before they were broken up by members of the crowd.

Both the incidents happened infront of children, members of the public etc etc and camera's

Secondly

At the award ceremony after the finals (which did not finish till 7) i noticed that the teams won hardly anything. I heard a rough figure that Backlash or Exstacy (whoever came 3rd) won £35 pounds instead of what they were promised. And at the beginning of the event was not the prize for AM A a £1000???????? Yet a heard Method only got £250 or something.

I admit i only heard this through what other people were chatting about. but i meant what a joke. No wonder teams left half way through the day. And i have to admit i dont feel so bad now, knowing that if we had won, we would not have got half the prizes we would have worked so hard for. I know the teams who won had to play loads of games (lots of bests of three in the semi etc etc) worked very hard for what they believed to be great prizes - then got nothing

Big respect to them for not saying anything at the presentation but i think something must be said

If the prize details are wrong please correct me but this is what i heard to be correct.

I am not sure what the pro's won but novice seemed to get some free gear but not sure what else

Hardly the tournament thats it so could have been and should have been

the word 'joke' seems to come to mind

Well we came 2nd in the Novice Division which for us was a very good result.
However we were very disapointed that we did'nt get a Thropy after paying over £1000 for the whole weekend!
As for the Prizes we got 5 DVD's 4 Boxes of paint a box of pots and free entry & Hotel for next years event.
Ok better than nothing but still abit of an anti-climax.

in the Pro category Warren and Matty asked all the teams if they minded having the prize fund reduced to include free entry and hotel for next seasons event.

due to the fact that loads of teams dropped out it left them with a huge deficit, they asked us if we could help them and we duly obliged.

they would have lost a lot more money if we had said no, we want what we have been promised they would have given it to us but then had to spend the next year or so paying back the deficit! we supported them in a way that ensures this event happens again.

Blimey, that's damned reasonable of you. Haven't things changed... I can remember when a promoter would be hanged for less. You know, teams dropping out is a real pisser... and it may help some of us understand if we knew the cirumstances of these drop outs, or the numbers even... but, in most situations I would have expected the answer from those on the podium to be 'fk you, pay me the money'.

Hats off to gaff. Fly, well done mate... when did you find out you weren't getting what you'd paid for.

there always has to be one negative no named flamer. ive only heard good things. Unfortunatly i could not have been there, but shouldnt this thread be called "thanks for all the hard work over the weekend, warren matt and all the marchells, and cheers for all those teams who let them down last minute"

someone tries there best to add another event to the Uk paintball calander and does a pretty good job from what ive heard. all u can do is flame them, did u enjoy the event ? if so why are u stiring crap. Every event ive ever played has had its share of drama.

dont forget guy's that the prize amounts were shown as euros not pounds so the 750 euros + 10 boxs of paint converts to £525 + 10 boxes of paint then
so sounds like a good prize when you you get free entry next year(£490ish), free hotel (at least £120) some cash plus the paint
stop moaning people
and as for fighting thats not the oraganisers fault blame that on the idiots that cheat and then argue it and those that think they are in a mad max film

It was a good event as I'm sure everybody would agree, hats off to Warren and his team they worked bloody hard to keep things going.
We made alot of new freinds and then shot them :D . but all I would say is when your at the bottom of the pile in the novice section a bit of Tin & Plastic with ya name on means alot.

1st we did not attend this event so i have no comment on the event its self but isn't it about time we should have some kind of list of last minute drop outs as i feel this seems the one thing that could kill off people setting up these kind events and soon we will see the cost going up of all the tornies we attend
