As you'll know, we have been off line for a few days ....
You may also be aware we were hacked on Saturday night, the two were not connected as I had first thought.
My initial suspicions as to who hacked into our site were unfounded even though I would have bet money on it being the individual I suspected .. but I was thankfully wrong;
We now know the individual who did this and will be following that up in due course.
The reason we were taken off line was because I had a replacement debit card sent to me because I lost my first one.
The card was the same account and the same number .. what I didn't know was, the 3 digit security number was different ... I just assumed my Paypal account would be unaffected, after all, it was exactly the same account number and card number.
I always use Pay-pal to pay the server I use and the first I knew something was wrong was when I received a letter from them telling me their money had not been paid.
As soon as I realised what had gone wrong, I changed the relevant debit card information at Paypal and then I received another email from my server telling me they would now get payment from Pay-pal .... So far so good.... I just carried on as normal and a few days later, Bam, our site went off line ... my server had not done as it said and taken the money out and so the monthly payment wasn't taken.
I had zero idea this was the case .. I should maybe have checked the money had been taken but I didn't, who would?
They then take my site off line and then that's the first I knew the money hadn't been paid.
I had just assumed that since everything was now OK at my end and there was more than enough money in the account to cover it, I assumed that when they said they would now take the money, it would all go smoothly .. it didn't, they didn't take any money out and I was summarily dumped off line.
I ain't gonna go into the details as to the unbelievable number of fone calls I had to make and subsequent fuhk ups these guys made in trying to get my site back on line ... I don't wanna go thru telling you what I had to do, not because I wish to keep anything from you but because this vein in my neck would start pulsating and I'd probably end up smashing my laptop against the wall in frustration.
it was like headbutting a brick wall, if I had hair, I would have pulled it out ....
Suffice it to say, I will be looking around for another dedicated server package.
I apologise to everybody for the time we were off line because I should have checked they had taken the money out and not just assumed they were gonna hold true to what the email they sent in those guys taking the money from pay-pal.
