Weird problem with DM6

I've got a weird problem with my DM6, basically the first shot is chronoing around 420fps :)eek:) then subsequent shots are like 180-200 and really poor, some paint just rolls out of the barrel... if I leave the gun for like 15 seconds and fire it peaks up to 420fps again, regardless of how I adjust the reg.. I havn't had a chance to strip the reg down yet but was wondering whether anyone on here has heard of such a problem before?

Cheers

Is there not a setting on the board for first shot drop off?

That could be the problem of such a jump between the first shot then the rest

Im not too technical when it comes to guns but if you pm DYE EUROPE or ASH on these boards he'll be able to sort you out

420fps to balls rolling down the barrel.

Definately NOT something you can cure with board fsdo settings...

gonna sound like a stupid question, but is the air flowing into the marker properly, since sometime on my guns with my air bottles if the asa pin is screwed too far in it actually restricts the airflow, thus leading to the shootdown. the high velocity could just be to do with the pressure being turned way too high or the regs needing a good clean

just a thought

- Change the Battery.

- clean the LPR, then reset it to 3.5 - 4 turns out.

- strip the bolt, clean, replace all o-rings, re-lube.

- strip and clean the HPR then rebuild and set it at 4ish turns out to start, then throw it over a chrono

always a good start :)

Kung Fu.... Nuts....? If you guys say so...

Right, here's what you need to do;

Firstly, you need to clean the bolt assembly, you will almost definately need to change the front number 017 Urethane o-ring. (make sure to clean your bolt kit regularly, as if you leave any broken paint on the bolt assembly it can corrode and damage the o-rings - especially the front 017 urethane one)

Next, you will need to service the regs, start with the LPR.

Unscrew the LPR cap and remove the brass seat adjuster. It sounds like reg seat (the black disk located in the end of the brass fitting) has been crushed. If it has a deep circular groove in it, then it needs replacing (just hook it out a dentist style pick, or alternatively you can push it out through the small hole in the hex shaped end using a small pin / rod).

When replacing the brass adjuster (with the new seat fitted) wind it all the way in until it stops, then unscrew it 4 full turns.

And again with the Hyper2, remove the bottom cap and take out the brass adjuster and inspect the seat. There is a fair chance that this will need replacing too.

Again, when replacing the brass adjuster, wind it all the way in and then unscrew it 3.5 full turns. (You will need to adjust this to chrono, its just a good default setting)

You will have one of these black reg seats in your spares kit. If you need any, or any help, please contact me - achaplen@dyeprecision.com

Remember - if you start to experience a little shoot down, inconsistent cycling or inconsistent velocity, then dont immediately adjust the regulators to compensate, as this will only give a temporary fix and the problem may continue to get worse. Instead, clean and inspect the bolt kit, as the problem will most likely be o-ring related. Pay close care and attention to both 017 urethane o-rings in the cylinder and tophat, and the bolt sail o-ring and it will keep these kind of problems at bay.
