I checked it out.Originally posted by TheBroz
Just to slighty skew off topic a bit.... Anyone got any info/pics on this robot testing thingy? Did it work, or did it go mad and charge around the beach screaming"DANGER! DANGER CHUCK HENDSCH! DE-BOUNCE SETTINGS ADJUSTED INCORRECTLY!"
And so on...

Now if they could only manage the same with drug testing in baseball.
"Mr. Steinbrenner, I understand the Yankees are clean."
"I did all the testin' myself and I'm pleased to say they passed with flying colors."
What's up? Sour cos the rumours you were trying to help along weren't true?Originally posted by Baca Loco
Nice to know there was an impartial observer on the scene.

Where did I start or promote any rumors about any particular gun? Nor am I any sour-er than usual. Nor am I suggesting your "report" is innaccurate but I would find it, on the whole, more satisfactory coming from someone with no iron in any fire.Originally posted by manike

In another thread , and I purposely held off to wait for proof and these tests to be done. I'm the kind of person that at least likes to have fire to go with my smoke.Originally posted by Baca Loco

Agreed and understood. I would also like to have independent and impartial testers. I think beard with his technical understand to be one ideal candidate (sorry for volunteering you Beard!). I agree this data has to be independently verifiable.Originally posted by Baca Loco

I'm not going to argue with you there. You have valid concerns.Originally posted by Baca Loco
If the fact that I've suggested there are multiple illegal or illegally equipped markers in regular tourney competition makes me a rumormonger I plead guilty. And to stay the course I'll suggest that even if Robbie works as well as some have suggested it won't and can't catch all the cheats currently in use.

I witnessed some of the initial testing of the Nppl-MT04, Friday at HB. It required the use of a computer to operate the Oehler Ballistic Chronograph which is integral to the MT04. Since David Zinkham, the NPPL Scrutineer was having some difficulty in obtaining a computer. Bob Long and my fellow BLAST Tech, Neil Penny was able to provide both a laptop with the appropriate interface and experience in operating the program.
Bob has had a robot of his own for months now and we were all familiar with the Oehler’s program. A few Intimidators new and used were first used as guinea pigs in the testing.
The MT-04 was kept in a mini steel shipping container in the players area, adjacent to the entrance and registration area. Inside was a large banquet size table which atop laid the essentials to the MT04, it consisted of a marker rack which used velcro straps for locking the marker in position. Position to it’s side is a large aluminum jig that housed a DC electric motor, on it’s shaft was a plastic rectangular cam. When placed into position the cam could rotate to activate the trigger to a designated amount of shots per second thru a switch box.
With the 2 Intimidators that I saw going thru the testing, both Alias’s, both passed. Much to the chagrin and disappointment to some, but to the delight of Bob and ourselves. I believe that all of the other manufactures present were offered to bring samples for testing but none took up David’s offer. **cough ,cough**
Neither Bob, Neil or I know what became of the robot after Friday, Neil got his computer back, so David was back to square one on Saturday. The MT04 wasn’t really ready for use in HB, it was underestimated in what was required to prepare to operate Oehler’s Ballistic computer program. The league Scrutineer didn’t have enough experience in the installation or operation of the program. Last I heard Jim Drew offered to help, he too was having trouble in getting the software to work on another acquired computer and hadn’t been seen for the rest of the day. If they ever got the whole system running by the end of the event I don’t know.
Darn, i was hoping for cool ass robotic fingers walking the trigger. Oh and some wicked scary red eyes, all 'robots' need red eyes, it should be the law.Originally posted by Terry59
