Warning "Lovsan" Virus causing PC's to shut down

6 of my friends ran me last night complaining that thier Windows XP or 2000 PC's kept turning off. It took a little while to put 2+2 together and solve the problem. If you have this problem do this.

1. Search for the file "MSBLAST.EXE" on your machine and try to delete each instance (not always possible)
2. Download this file Standalone Virus Cleaner
3. Disconnect from the net
4. Install the file
5. Click on the Stinger icon
6. Click on preferences and add ticks to "boot sectors" and "scan all files". (do not change any others)
7. Click OK
8. Click Scan now
9. Reconnect to net
10. Download this Microsoft patch MS Patch, make sure you click "Open" or "Run this program from its current location."
11. Restart your machine
12. Update your normal virus protection software or at least get some

at least its fix able im still trying to sort mine out!

bloody thing wont let me use links, cut and past

wont let me click on a lot of stuff in web pages and wont let me click on links to dl virus definition updates
i tried overwritting live update from the cd and the installer wont boot up!

ok i think im getting somewhere now, i found the msblast.exe file in my regestary and ran a symnatec tool that has (it says) removed it, but i still cant click on links on pages or emails.....arrrggg

does loadqm.exe meen anything to anyone?

this is really driving me bonkers now,

ive ran the removal tool and it picked up and removed msblast...no probs

but i still cant get links to work, cant use some exe files, my install is fooked and wont let me install/uninstall anything


im getting to the point of formatting my hard disk and starting from scratch!

any ideas?
