War is Good? PSP vs. NPPL

Before the split the old NPPL(PSP) only dreamed of the sorts of numbers both the PSP and the NPPL seem to be getting routinely--except for World Cup.
Tampa NPPL had around 200 teams with registration filling in two days or two weeks but whatever it was fast and huge.
Orlando PSP had 190 teams including 75 Xball teams (not counting the NXL's 10 teams) and Chicago registration opened a couple of days ago and has 50+ Xball teams signed up already.

So what's going on? Are there suddenly so many more teams than there were just two or three years ago?

And if the competition has been good for Paintball will a NPPL Europe actually benefit the Millennium Series?

If you mean do I know for a fact it's a done deal--no, I don't. But it appears the necessary groundwork for making it happen is being done. I think it would also be fair to suggest the MS is concerned that it's coming given the number and sort of changes made this season. Even so, figure it's just me speculating again and you can't go wrong.

There's a reason there isn't a NPPL-Millenium partnership this year, and that reason is Euro Disney.

As for "war is good", we'd have just as many teams if the events were still at Bdlandz and in the cow pasture. There are just more players. The split was definitely good for the venue changes and other improvements.

Ok, if Euro-Disney is the reason for no MS-NPPL partnership why isn't there a PSP-MS partnership if Disney means so much? And if no Euro-Disney next year does that make a "partnership" a forgone conclusion?

And--are you suggesting that simple numbers accounts for the present situation? If so does that mean that if there had been no split we'd have 300+ team events all the time? Or that PSP would be getting the numbers they do if the lead format was still 10-man?

And if the venue changes and other improvements haven't changed the numbers why should either league continue to commit more resources and money than they need to?

i don't get it, what does Euro-Disney have to do with it?

To be honest i thought the reasons for the NPPL not comming to Europe were a little more money based.

Like they couldn't come up with the goods, cause the spent all the money on NPPL USA

or maybe they felt that fighting a war on two fronts wasn't a good idea...

I would say there is more hope of an NXL/NPPL partnership than a PSP/NPPL one or an NPPL/MS one. The PSP/MS parnership would be a follow-up move.

and by hope, I mean that at least some parties are interested in seeing that happening...

I think you're making a bad assumption about Euro-Disney. It doesn't really have anything to d with Disney, it has to do with Laurent trying to get Euro Disney as a location and Bart trying to outbid him for it. Hard for leagues to be friendly when one is trying to not only set up their own events on the other's turf, but also trying to push them out of the same locations.

And--are you suggesting that simple numbers accounts for the present situation? If so does that mean that if there had been no split we'd have 300+ team events all the time? Or that PSP would be getting the numbers they do if the lead format was still 10-man?
There are more than twice as many frequent paintball participants now than there were 5 years ago, so yes, numbers accounts for the present situation. IF we didn't have the increase in numbers, two leagues wouldn't be sustainable.

And if the venue changes and other improvements haven't changed the numbers why should either league continue to commit more resources and money than they need to?
Because their customers have come to expect it. If PSP or NPPL stop spending the money, somebody else will spend the money and take their business.

And because PSP and NPPL want to market themselves outside the industry, and people outside the industry expect it as well.
