The dust still hasn't settled on this, so why can't we just fly around, under or over the ash cloud?
According to Radio 4, the UK's no-fly stance is based on a safety document written some 30 years ago which hasn't been updated, following an incident involving a 747 flying through a similar cloud.
We now have Airlines wanting government bailouts as they have lost so much cash.
Wouldn't it be easy to send up a Predator drone to fly through the cloud and see what happens to it?
Heck, the Predator could even film what is happening.
