Took my Etek2 to devon it performed Nicely apart from a few eye problems.

When I got it home I left home for a while, I got back to find my Etek wouldnt boot up properly, the screen would crash, get stuck, or not show any lights, I disconnected the eyes, and it would boot fine and no problem (so I am currently looking for new virtue eyes) - going to replace my 2 month old virtue eyes.

I have tried all types of batteries 2 new Duracell, 2 Sony Ultimate and to no avail. I then boxed it up, and decided to contact virtue - I still have heard nothing from them, got out my Etek2 a week ago, and found that it wont show any lights on the display, I have not had it out, its been put away safely/ gently, and I have not caused any damage to it since the previous time I found the fault, so its definately a harward/ software fault.

I contacted Tricky Dicky who I bought it off, and he was more then helpful and told me he had no problems with it (just murphy's law I guess).

Whats the best thing for me to do as I have called Virtue plenty of times, it was purchased by Tricky Dicky from LIPS any point contacting them?

Just general advice/help needed.

I hazzard a guess that you'd be stuck going through virtue direct, just dont mention it's second hand and hope they dont ask for proof of purchase.

Email them, get a RMA# then ship it back to them in the states, all their boards have a lifetime warrenty

yeah thats what i said it has a lifetime warranty.

i did try and find my email or invoice from LIPS although recently ive been a victim of fraud (£600 pounds taken from my account over the net  ) so i have shredded and deletedt the emails a month or around that after i received the product.

alhtough it worked fine and danddy for me, and for you in devon? did you leave the battery connected into the board aterwards? battery type? what im getting at is if its a cheap battery it may have a higher chance of leaking and wrecking the board?.

did you get the board wet or that?

or it could be a general board malfunction?

Thanks for that I know you are very honest and more then helpful, no worries about shredding the documents I am sure LIPS will have copies if it comes to that.

It worked in Devon fine, It told me I needed to Lube it, when I did it was fine, told me when I needed to change battery etc. When I got it home from Devon I did leave the battery in, but it was a brand new Sony battery. There was no condensation, battery acid, liquid there of any type. I did store it in my atic, so it could have been a little cold, but that surely doesnt suggest anything.

I will have no problem in saying it was my fault but the fact it worked fine, when I disconnected the eyes, then it would crash with the eyes connected. After this I left the grips open, no battery connected and no sign of any liquid in the case/box. So the fact it carried on getting worse after each boot it suggested hardware damage.

Any other suggestions. I am sure I did something wrong

OK well I have a nice phone manner and just managed to get £60 compensation for time, and consequential loss from the royal mail of all people for losing a £20 item. How hard can it be.

Thanks for that I guess I will run up the phone bill waiting on their switchboard.

Thanks for the help (and vote on BOTW -
- I wanted at least a few)

no bother just trying to help :)

by the looks of it, i think you got a board malfunction mate, i used it once before sending it too you and i shot maybe 2000 balls with it.

now correct me if i wrong but the manual says the 'lube me' will come up after 30000 shots, so by the looks of it, its either a board malfunction or you had a blast in devon lol.

Is that so, I would also mention that when I put the new battery in, I didnt check it said full on the screen when I turned it on, but when I looked at it after a few games it was on the same amount that I took the old one out at.

But being as I took the team paint and we had 20k I dont think I stole paint that day.

So I think I got a dud one. (Would like to mention Tricky was an absolute A* dealer and I dont hold him to blame - I have pmd this to him, but dont want to get flamed as a h8r).
