This is on the odessey website about the z code:-

August 21, 2003:

ODYSSEY PAINTBALL PRODUCTS

SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR HALO B.

Software Version: ST-Z - Soft Touch(tm) version Z.

Features:

Z Code has a new jam detection circuit that allows the HALO to determine when an internal jam occurs (out-of-round paint for example). It then initiates a jam clearing sequence which attempts to clear the jam (three times) before changing to a fail safe mode which protects the motor and circuitry for being damaged.

This new technology has allowed us to increase the rotational force/speed of the HALO without risk of damage. Z Code still includes all of the features of past software updates.

When in fail-safe mode, the HALO will rapidly flash the LED red and green to let the user know of the jam. The user can then clear the jam and turn the HALO off and back on normally. When battery levels are too low, the same flashing will occur to alert the user.

with my TE, it would always feel as though it was 'throbbing' when i wassnt playing with it but it was switched on full and with a full stack, it seemed like the motor was trying to load?the light would flash red after just 1 game or as soon as new batteries are put in, then last weekend it jammed i think and the motor would just humm and not spin so im replacing it at the mo, i dont think i had a jam but its just wierd?any ideas?

Well your problem came from one of two things.

1. you needed to adjust the eye sensitivity. There is a little "pot" switch/nobe on the board that you turn to fix it.

2. The ball stack wasn't aligned right with the eye. You need to either rise or lower the the halo (i.e. cut the feed tube a 1/8-1/4 of an inch)

I've had a tough time with my Z-coded halo double feeding and causing chops on my Speed. I've used several different feed necks and stiffened the detents, but the thing still causes chopping. I'm going to try adjusting the eye sensitivity. I've also heard that a little Dow 33 on the belt can help the situation. Other than those solutions, I'm at my wits end with this thing.

Angels are notorious for that problem. Maby it was intentional or maby it was just poor manufacturing but Angels tend to have large breeches and alow the halo to feed 1 1/2 balls in the breech.

I noticed that my speed had a little roll back, i think the A4 soft nosed bolt should fix this and also stop it from chopping but dont take my word for it lol.

Its intrinsic in the rotobreach design that the bolt sits further back than it does on other markers.

There is a chance that the ball can roll back and put the balls under greater pressure.

This is why Angels and Halos dont mix. :(
