Not sure if its of much interest on this forum - but here's a short taster of a documentary being made about our recent Call To Duty III event that was held in Croatia a couple of weeks ago.
The game was probably the most outrageous that has been held anywhere with scuba divers, fast attack boats, submarine pens, 5.5 km's of underground tunnels and players from all over the world. There were points where the guys were climbing cliffs to assault hill top positions - it got pretty fruity.
Only 30% managed to finish the first day due to injury, heat and exhaustion. That raised slightly to 40% on the second day.
For the game Shoreline hired four islands in the Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Croatia. It's an abandoned military outpost covered in machine gun nests, artillery positions and honeycombed with a tunnel complex. All pretty sexy stuff.
Sadly, we had to call in a chopper to casevac one causality off the island. Amazingly, his injury was not caused by playing - but by clowning around in the camp
These games are not for everyone. Loads of paintballers actively hate the idea of such a hardcore game - we appreciate that. But for those who like this sort of thing.......then it was pretty special.
We call these types of game Guerrilla Paintball. Guerrilla events take place at outrageous locations (an old chemical munitions factory, an Urban military training town in Wales, this one was on our own private islands in Croatia and the next one is........well......somewhere very cold in a location that doesn't show up on any maps or Google Earth).
These sorts of games attract a different sort of players to regular scenario or woodsball events. They are physically demanding and require all participants to lock their personality defects away for the duration of the event and work together in order to get through. Players don't enjoy Guerrilla games, they survive them. They are all about pushing personal boundaries and taking players outside of their comfort zone. As I've said, they are not everyone's cup of tea - but if playing some hardcore ball in jaw dropping venues floats your boat......then you may enjoy this trailer from Shoreline's Call To Duty III game in Croatia last month.
Cheers
