PBI has recently discovered an issue with certain Aradus/marker combinations. There have been reports by some users of our Aradus barrels that they cannot obtain velocity with their particular marker. PBI wants to address this issue and provide our customers with high quality products and the outstanding customer service that they deserve.
The inefficiency originally was believed to be caused by the slot on the inside of the aradus. This is not true however since it is a closed system. There is only about a 3% gas loss through this slot. The majority of the gas is being lost through the gap that exists between the front bolt and the adapter section of the Aradus. As much as 30% was escaping through this area. PBI originally designed the Aradus this way to keep ball breakage down. However the downside to this is that one cannot obtain proper velocity on certain markers.
So...PBI made changes to the base unit to allow for higher efficiency by reducing the gap that previously existed. We have already tested on a Spyder and the results are phenomenal! We set the stock barrel to an average of 285fps and 290 and then without changing the velocity, put the original Aradus on and the velocity dropped to between 250fps and 255fps. With the new Aradus barrel the velocity dropped to 280 to 285 without changing velocity. We should also note here that the stock barrel did not even have porting, this Aradus did. We also shot about 600 balls through and didn't break a single one. Testing is still pending for the other barrel designs but we are confident that those results will be identical. If not, we will make it so.
If you are having problems obtaining velocity, please send in you Aradus and we will exchange it for the new more efficient design. You should only exchange your barrel if you are actually having velocity problems. If your Aradus is working just fine for you, then DO NOT exchange it. The design that you have will allow even less ball breaks than this new version. Not to say that this new Aradus design is going to necessarily break more balls, but the original barrel is in fact going to allow for less ball breakage because of less pressure on the ball from the surrounding base unit walls.
If you are sending back your original Aradus to be replaced by this new more efficient design but with the same tip style, send us your Aradus with a note stating that that is what you would like to have happen. This will be a free exchange.
If you are sending back your original Aradus to be replaced by this new more efficient design AND would like the new PRO tip style, send us your Aradus with a note stating that that is what you would like to have happen along with $15 for the upgrade.
