I know several USA teams that were looking to come and play Campaign will no longer be doing so because of the clash. :(

My loyalties about which event to attend are severely strained. :(

I hate it when they make events clash.

Besides, whose dumb enough to even consider going to Vegas in August?
I don't know, but they would be very dumb if they are paintballers trying to attend the event which is being held in September... ;) :D

Texas Storm were coming to Campaign, but it doesn't look likely now.

EDIT ADDED: What I meant Simon was, in order to not conflict, an August date would'a been the likely alternative and it's bleeding awful in Vegas in August. And frankly, September ain't no picnic. In the meantime I think the INS will be receiving an anonymous tip about a dangerous foreigner--if I can only find that phone number. :p TFP

Errr, do the world ranking points from either event worth the same? and do they both count towards the hallowed 18 pro bracket for NPPL 2005?

If they are the same would'nt some teams be coming to Campaign merely for the easy, open up a can of whooop-ass on the Euro's gimme some more points type thingy?

Still aload of poo poo for Euroball. :(

Back from hols :)

Campaign Cup points won't count for NPPL ranking, only Bittburgh, Toulouse, Madrid and Malaga were afforded that distinction.

Any Euro team wishing to acquire NPPL Pro ranking for next year who are already playing EXL will have to make some stark choices that in my opinion will mean some of us having to field XBall teams (for the Campiagn Cup leg) that do not include first team players who will be possibly playing the Vegas NPPL.

The question is, will the EXL survive ?
I think it will till the end of the season 2004, albeit with weakened team rosters for the last event (with maybe even one or maybe more than one team dropping out altogether) and unless a short to mid term commitment or contract is forthcoming from the XBall peoples, I can't see any serious XBall league venturing into 2005.

Nexus will see out the XBall year with a 'team' presence at the remaining two events as long as things stay as they are but after that, things will have to change if we are to play XBall into 2005 under the EXL banner.

If things do not change, I believe, or rather would guess, Ton Tons, Nexus, Shockwave and Joy will be playing NPPL (if we all get sufficient ranking points) with the Russkies possibly playing NXL leaving the remainder of the Euro EXL teams to play with maybe some replacement teams who might wish to play XBall in that environment.

The hand of fate has just forced some of the big Euro teams to focus on what they feel is the direction paintball is going when I think some of those people would have preferred to delay a little longer.

Slightly off topic but ...well done to the Nexus Eclipse team for getting that amazing fifth place pro in Toulouse and bashing up Arsenal in under a minute (you got the first team Nexus players worried now), also well done to Tigers for a great 4th place and Kellys for their final spot.
With Shockwave looking as though they got more potential and commitment than ever, things are looking really good on the English front of paintball...

So, if 7 man World Ranking Points can only come from non-EXL Millennium events, in order to keep a foot in both the 7 man and X Ball camps teams had to pretty much play all the Millennium events and some US events. Kinda reinforces the notion that Pro-level paintball is a virtue of the rich. Seems less of a stark choice, more no choice at all. And for the teams without the Cash Money to do both an expensive gamble.

With no points available at Campaign for Pro ranking, what top level teams are going to take it that seriously (can't see Evil factory attending, their chasing Pro qualification from Div 1, so need the points). The top Euro Pros have to look to NPPL pro qualification first in the absence of any direction re X-ball.

I know all eyes are on the EXL, but this further puts one in the botty of Open X. Without US presence, not enough Euro teams have taken up the format to make the event feasible. With only Evil Sharks, Jags, Cyclone and Powertrip committing to all open X events, what do we get out of committing to the series for the year? entry into a diminished EXL next year? :(
