Upgrading my gun - £200

Come the new year, I'll be looking towards buying a new gun. For the ast couple of years I've shot either an old Automag RT, or my rather unique, heavily modded spyder (I've spent a few quid lowering the op, adding eyes and all sorts).
However, I've decided to replace them for next season. I've got around £200 to spend, and am very tempted by the Mini, which I've shot a few times, and liked a lot, but before I buy, I would like a little advice.
I've shot the PMR a lot, as my mates shoot them, but wasn't that impressed - it was pretty havy, and I couldn't get the same ROF as I can on the spyder. Are the new Proto range a big improvement?
I'm not a fan of the Ion - I know it shoots lovely, but it feels too plasticy for my taste.
I can't think of any other guns in my price range new, but I've seen Ego 5s and older PM / DM models near my budget. Are there any real bargains out there secondhand? I could stretch an extra few quid for something nice......

well having shot pretty much all of the above i would say that my favourites are my mini which has been the best gun ive owned by a mile, and the 05 ego, best bet is to try out as many as you can before you buy to see which you prefer

That kind of money might stretch to a DM7 which area great guns if someone has one for sale. Certainly take that over a mini any day.

mmm, minis are really good for that price, its deff a winner for a new gun.
The newest proto guns look very well designed, the old PMR was a fab gun for the price needing very few upgrades in the longrun, deff try this if you want somthing new. You might need to put a little more love to the bolt opperation then the spyder though.

Secondhand, the guns already mentioned, Shockers are going for around that price aswell, you'll have to look on the selling threads.
I'd got a shocker in very A1 condition, i'd be willing to part with mine if you were intrested. Seen DM7's go for around £240 now thats a bargin if i'v ever seen one, the new DM9 is a little lighter because of milling, no purge, little smaller fuse bolt, newer trigger, newer trigg frame. the board and the rest of the dm7 inc reg is the same.

just remember that if you are looking at a new mini, it isnt £200 anymore. It is now closer to £270 brand new
