Hi all,

I've been going to a paintball site just outside kegworth quite a lot recently, and i'm interested in taking up tournament/speedball paintball.

Just wondering on what's the first thing i need to do regarding teams and equipment. What stuff would i need, where would i be traveling to and how do i go about joining a team?

I do not own any equipment at the moment so any tips on that side would be great as well.

Thanks

Keep an eye on the classifieds to see what stuff goes for and then do a little research on what looks to be in your price bracket (http://www.pbreview.com/ is a good place to start). There's a lot of threads like this around so do a search but for speedball i wouldn't recommend starting out with anything lower spec than an ion...you can pick up some nice second-hand angels on here for not a lot but i wouldn't bother going for anything higher than an etek as that's an awesome gun...for an air bottle you are generally looking at a 1.1L 4500psi fibre wrap bottle and depending on the gun you get will either need high or low pressure air (although some guns will run fine on either)

mask you want something decent and new, or at the very least a new lense...these are the most important part of your kit so don't skimp here...I use JT proflex's and find them very comfortable but there are plenty of good masks around (i3's, events, grills, etc). Also make sure it's a thermal lense as they will stop you steaming up as much...

hopper-wise you'll want something that can do 15bps as then you wont have to worry about upgrading when you begin to outshoot it...i think the VL evlution is generally considered a good starting point...

battle pack it's god to have something comfortable, i use an nxe pack with i think is excellent but see what you can find on the forums...

pods are just you're generic whatever you want...you can get dye locklids which are more expensive and can't accidentally open and spill you're paint but i've never had that problem in my pack anyway...

finally playing kit is just what you can pick up and what you like...look for good padding on the knees and elbows and get some pads as well. especially if you're planning on playing anything but back....

should be any...some start with thicker feednecks that might need to be sanded down, but that just means they're as strong as possible, but anything will fit fine...

pots you might be worth trying on here...just paintball do (or did) free delivery so that could cut the cost down a lot...

packs if you don't want to buy second hand i think it's just a matter of deciding what you want and checking prices at the usual places...planet eclipse, fat bob's, slothball, exl etc but you can probably pick one up a lot cheaper on here...

hey dude as far as packs go you need something comfortable and also durable i have a tomohawk pack which holds nine pods all out and is comfy as, set me 25quid new, you can get them warped who are based in wolverhampton their website is www.warpedpaintball.co.uk i think if not google them, that is my personal recommendation, but its up to your preference, but tbh ppl are right mask, gat air, hopper and then pack after that get the clothes, as looking good aint as good as having decent playing kit, as for gear have a look on here for pants and tops, you can now get a pair of destructor 06s from eclipse from 35quid now that is a bargin, hope all this helps cheers rob
