I have £1000 to spend with Panasonic so after a decent TV

Not particularly bothered about it being over 42 inch as It would look stupid in my lounge!

Wondered if anyone here had a panasonic, either lcd/plasma/Viera and could give me some advice?

Would prefer LCD although not ruling out Plasma.

Anyone with any knowledge who can guide me! :)

Cheers

As a rule of thumb.

48inches or under go LCD

Higher go plasma.

I could write a whole page on why, but cant be bothered, just trust me :p

I have a 37PX80 Viera one of the best rated plasmas its a fantastic TV (winner of most awards 2 years on the trot)
PQ far outclasses most LCDs of a similar size, especially for SD stuff.
My parents recently bought a 42'' Panny plasma from the "facelift" series of the PX80, not sure what its called, but thats also very good.

So as for recommending a model, cant really, but as for the brand, 100% yes.
Id imagine if there is a 1080p 42'' plasma model around, Id go with that and pocket the change / put it in a BluRay player.

I think the newer TVs have FreesatHD built in if thats of interest.

Panasonic great TVs. Plasma second only to Pioneer who arent making anymore.
Personally Ill buy plasma Tvs from now on unless OLED proves much better.

Peace out

ps that guitar port is awesome

Samsung 7 series bro, the sickness. Our demo makes you feel like you can touch the strange little fish swimming about, and I believe the 8 series will be 200hz, so refresh rates approaching those of plasma. LED is the way forwards for sure. As for panasonic

To the OP, you can get much better quality for money with plasma due to the limited contrast ratios inherent in LCD and the light bleed that poorer tvs experience. The only downside to plasma is the possibility of screen burn, but with a quality brand like Panasonic you'll be fine as long as you're careful to switch it off when you're done and don't leave any games paused too long, and the extra cost of running them.

Cheers Bolter - This is actually coming direct from Panasonic (but has to be a model in the shops currently under £1000) so I dont have any choice lol

Oh and to answer some above, mainly a house TV but I would like to put my 360 on it occasionally (my HD LCD is now going to be used for that purpose now :) ) It will no doubt be used mainly for my kids watching iggle bloody piggle and co...
