does anyone offer something like paintball training/teaching, because I am looking to get in more serious play, but I dont really know how to get into it, I was looking at a shocker for sale in the classified's, is this a good first marker? Also, the essential but, masks, as there arre no paintball shops around norfolk (or are there, I dont know?) I was thinking of mail-ordering a mask from somewhere like Planet Eclipse, I have worn a JT proteus before, and they seem comfy, but is something like a DYE better?

Any response would be much appreciated...

shockers are good markers and if u mean the 1 stephen noel is selling it looks clean as well (calnt argue for£275);)
the best way to learn is to play and learn from your mistakes:eek:
proteus goggles are the bollocks especially with the fan
i would try and get to a walk on and try other markers as well

There's always this academy that everyone raves about - Sparklie organises it search for "The Next Academy" post that's somwhere in the newbie section.

Shocker yeh nice toy and high-end too - £275 is a pretty sweet price really.

You want to get contacts at a paintball site as most offer trade prices so stuff's ridiculously cheap - for example if a site uses a lot of Draxxus paint then paint's often cheaper and if they use a lot of V-Force rental masks high end V-Force Morphs are a lot cheaper.

Proteus I don't like for aesthetic reasons - they're JT they'll be good and well tested (check the JT site if you've got a smoke Proteus they had a poor batch).

Dye - if you wear glasses they won't fit without bruising in most glasses wearers experience - clingy tight mask (in a good way) chin exposed a lot so persoanl preference and pain tolerance to be considered!

V-Force - I love my morph but lots of people hate them, the lower shield is a lot cheaper is all solid (no soft bits) but has a good neck protector.

Personal preference masks (and markers for that matter) try before you buy is best. Masks are certainly preference and FIT - like I said glasses wearers have trouble with DYE's but otehr's love them. YOu look at NPPL teams and depending on sponsors they'll all have JT's, Dye's or V-Force's posssibly others too.

Markers you'll pick up a marker use it for a while and love it say it will outshoot anything - you try LOT's of markers you'll find the one you love. Same with barrel length and most stuff only experience and playing will get it right.

Marshalling at a site gets you a lot of contacts - equiptment-wise to try or purchase cheap, team contacts, experience to see what works playwise and waht doesn't and hopefully LOTS of play experience - I got paid to play at the site the other day coz one team was being whooped me and the captain of TRIBE kitted up and decided to whoop ass - we hardly made a difference! Well we did but it was so subtle that no-one realised we just had to bump the confidence of the losing team and make them realise stuff was possible - that's why it's so funny recball marshalling they're usually newbies scared of being hit and firing off from hundreds of yards assuming every shot they fire a) hits the target and b) breaks - usually they take out a squirel or summit!

Well ask more questions it's the only way hope that's useful to start

Obviously paintball guns and alcohol is a bad idea - however I can personally say that paintball marshalling and a hangover is even worse - working Saturday Sunday - Friday and Saturday night respectively is just down rite awful!

Stop shooting it's too loud - followed by hiding in a bunker.

Or the best one I did was just fall face first in a trench full of stagnant water coz my feet weren't working mozzie nests and all it was minging and green!

Everyone else finds it funny though coz I'm the young (19) innocent one as they put it - I also have the dubious nickname 'Monkey Boy' don't ask I don't know why!

Head out to Adventure Paintball Bristol to see Monkey Boy in action ..!
