Obviously the NPPL and PSP are a lot more prestigious than the Millennium Series, and there are extra costs included for companies based in America, but why are the Millennium Series tradeshows so sh!t compared to the tradeshows in the NPPL or PSP?

I personally think it's down to cost effectiveness, if a company doesn't have a trade stall/van or branch of the company in EU then they probably won't bother, as you know the market over here is smaller yada yada yada.

manchester,
Because it is quite a huge sport over there compared to here, more sales, more people having a look round, its not worth the money to the company's.

To be honest. i Dont think the PSP tradeshow was all that great. There are some more vendors, but they are basically all showing the same stuff as at the Mill. Considering how many new products that were shown here, it could be a bit more spectacular. Im not too impressed. :) But it was fun beeing here.

If they promoted the events more widely rather than just within the paintball community, it might get more punters in and increase sales.

Yep, but also share events/venue's with other "sports".....
abit like campagn cup/basildon festival, i seen alot of joe public spectate, take a look around and even talk to a few of the players asking info etc... (mainly on the normal fields i.e m5/div2/div1 fields.)

actualy mate theres not that much of a diffrence.

The only diffrence i saw at HB was there are more stands because not only do you get the major comapanies, you get a lot of "out the back of a van with a tent" vendors :)

nowt much else diffrent really.

Correct me if I´m wrong but there was some sort of ranking of the tradeshows last year (in PGI perhaps?), where World Cup obviously came 1st but Paris was 2nd ! Besides that one more of the millennium tradeshows came top-5, can´t remember which one though.....

Being a PSP World Cup vendor I think I might have the answer for that.

First of all, the crowds are much bigger here at the events. Almost every booth was full with people standing in the front waiting to get in. The World Cup is for many smaller manufacturers a chance to show off their products and meet dealers.

Second thing, it's actually cheaper for me as a european manufacturer to go to a US event instead of Millennium. Plane tickets, hotels, car rental, food, paid help... All these things are pretty similarly priced on both continents, but the actual cost of booth differs much.

Now, after taking all that into the account, I still don't break even - I don't think anybody actually does (maybe MacDEV - they sold a lot of guns), but it's an investment, so I need to make sure it pays off, and the ROI is much better when I go stateside.
