hey guys, in the new year prob around feb i will be looking at investing in a pistol (eventually two) to go with my bravo one, for scenario play.

ive been looking at either a tpx or tib 8.1.

now apart from the obvious price difference which one in your opinion is better and why?

im stuck on this decision as although the tpx is cheaper the fact that the tib 8 has the sparklet in the mags which makes reloading/gasing easier kinda balances it out. also there are almost identical mods for each

i wait on your responses as i cant make my mind up im leaning toward the tib 8.1's

Main differences on paper:

-Mags for the TPX are cheaper, since they don't have to have any valves for the sparklets.
-Sparklets in the TPX aren't punctured until the first pull of the trigger, meaning you won't be losing pressure via microleaks while you're not using it.
-Tib 8.1 is first strike ready.
-Both can be run off remote line, although I think the Tib 8.1 needs a magazine adaptor for that (not sure, correct me if I'm wrong)

Other than that, they're pretty similar

thanks bambulus, i have looked at first strike, is it worth the money? as im not completely sure on what it does? i do like the tpx looks and the price is swaying me that way slightly. what about quality/reliability? surely the fact the tib 8 is twice the price reflects that its better? or is it the name you pay for?

i know im asking a lot of questions but when it comes to large sums of money i wanna be 100% sure

No worries
:)
I'd want to be sure too.

I've no experience with either gun, nor first strike rounds. The theory with first strikes is that, because of how they're designed (with fins), they're able to spin in the air, maintaining velocity for a longer distance and giving much more accurate shot. Same concept as rifling in guns. They're expensive as hell, though. Up to you if it's worth it
:)

Will post this, though

I can't comment on the build quality, I'm afraid. Rider might be able to, since he's owned both.

bamulus has given you a good run down there.

build wise..... the tpx feels lighter and has a thinner grip, but is very robust. the same is true for the T8 but it feels chunkier and more solid.

the grip is slightly bigger on the T8 meaning you need to have bigger hands for a comfy grip.

Both require an adaptor for air via remote lines.

The Tiberius adaptor goes into one of your magazines and is a pipe the length of a magazine.
The TPX adaptor reroutes the air supply to the back of the marker.

On the Tiberius you can swap bewteen CO2 mags and remote air mags - but obviously FPS may fluctuate between air and CO2.

On the TPX you have to have a CO2 sparklet loaded, but this can be empty. I have heard you can run CO2 and remote at the same time - but expect this could be a problem mixing air & CO2.

Personaly if using 12 grams I prefer the Tiberius. With 3 12 grams I could use the Tiberius as a primary marker and could manage the CO2 in each magazine to reload paint when convenient and only had to track how many times each mag had been used. The bottom of the magazines has a counter dial you can use for this. But that meant I committed 3 12 grams so could at the end of the day waste 3 cylinders that I will have to empty.

With a remote line on the Tiberius I can reload the magazine after anything from 1 to 8 shots. I spent a lot of time at NvS using a single remote lined maagzine and had a great time - even at some of the voting station firefights.

With the TPX I am not keen on the 12 gram under the barrel as having used older pistols I see this as a step backwards - you are commited to when you change CO2.
But the advantage of the TPX is you commit to a 12 gram only when you click to puncture. If you are using it as a sidearm you need not use a 12 gram game after game until you are ready to use it.

Most of my team mates now carry the TPX as secondaries or pistol games and love it. I expect I will eventually go for a TPX but will have a remote on it.

The 8.1 Tiberius is the one I would choose.
You don't need tools to change the Co2 anymore.
You get more shots per 12g (3 mags worth vs 2 for the TPX) due to the fact that the T8.1 runs off regulated C02 (it's basically an automag), not directly from te 12g
You can shoot first strike (this is the biggest single thing. First strike is CRAZY accurate, and I found myself pulling out my pistol when I needed to hit somebody under a canopy of cover that my regular balls would not go through. Also bear in mind that you have 8 shots in your mag, so why not make those shots count for something?)
The only cons to the 8.1 are the larger grip (doesn't bother me as I have man-hands), and the cost of the mags (more expensive than the TPX ones)

All in all, the T8.1 is a more advanced engine, and capable of firing a round that will deliver amazing performance when you need it to. The TPX is just a blow-back pistol that shoots the same paint as your regular gat, which means you will use it less, as it doesn't really add anything to your repertoire.

good feedback for both really, seems like these 2 pistols are the xbox and ps3 :) its one side or the other haha loving it. i think i gonna go for tpx's as the cost is a great factor to me, for the price of a t8.1 and 4 mags i can get 2 tpx's and 6 mags + extras

my main gat for scenario is my weighty bravo one so the tpx will be for a side arm/for quick assault games etc etc/ plus i just wanna get a pistol for s###s and giggles.
