Dear Teams and Players,
The Turkish Professional Paintball League (TPPL) was formed last year with the aim of uniting paintball teams and players in Turkey and providing them with the opportunity to experience high quality, fast paced tournaments in pace with similar events around Europe. Following three national legs in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, the 2006 TPPL season held its season finals in an international tournament in Istanbul, called the “Bosphorus Cup”.
In an manner unheard of at the time, the TPPL provided foreign teams with free accommodation, free shuttles and no entrance fees and the European paintball community responded in great force. A total of 28 teams, including 10 from Turkey, 7 from Germany and 3 from Russia among other, joined for a weekend of paintball frenzy under the shadow of the Bosphorus Bridge and with a great view of the Bosphorus Strait.
This season, the Turkish Professional Paintball League (TPPL) will be holding two international tournaments, having added the “Mediterranean Cup” in Antalya (5-6 May 2007) to its schedule along with the Bosphorus Cup in Istanbul. The TPPL will also be organizing the “TPPL paintball & holiday week” prior to the Mediterranean Cup, starting on the 30th of April and leading up to the end of the tournament on the 6th of May 2007.
And if you thought last year’s foreign teams bonuses was just a gimmick aimed at attracting attention, you better think again. As the organizers, we’re going one better this season and providing foreign teams with a bigger and better tournament and even more bonuses. Below you will find lots of detailed information in regards to the TPPL paintball & holiday week and the Mediterranean Cup tournament.
FOREIGN TEAMS:
Like the previous tournament, we offer some very attractive opportunities for foreign paintball teams. The following will be provided to foreign teams free-of-charge: no entrance fee, 2 night all-inclusive accommodation (for 5 team players) at a 5-star holiday village, no players party fee.
Teams attending the paintball & holiday week will be able to stay 7 nights at the same holiday village and only pay for 4 nights, no welcome party fee, no fee for use of practice and reball fields through-out the week (only paint / reball fees), and all offers listed above for teams participating in just the tournament.
Hotel / Accommodation / Shuttles:
Teams will be staying at the Majesty Kemer Beach Club in Kemer, Antalya. This is a 5-star holiday village and all teams will be accomodated as part of an all-inclusive package. The holiday village is a 5 minute drive from downtown Kemer and a 20 minute drive from Antalya. Hourly TPPL shuttles will be running between the airport and holiday village, and will cost approximately 5-10 Euros per person. A reception crew will be waiting for all teams at the airport and will provide assistance in regards to shuttles. Further information is provided on the tournament website.
Venue / Tech Support:
The venue for the paintball week and tournament will be the grass football field of the seaside holiday village. The venue is used by professional football teams from around the world during their off-season camps in Antalya. Plans include construction of 3 playing fields inside the venue. Field layouts will be announced on the tournament website a month prior to the event. Currently it’s certain that at least an Angel Tech will be present during the organization to provide services to Angel owners.
Paint Brands and Prices:
The paint that will be available during the paintball week and tournament is listed below with prices.
TC Paintballs Probox ($50), Draxxus Blaze ($55), Draxxus Inferno ($60)
Talks are ongoing regarding the inclusion of other brands at the event.
Format / Rules / Divisions / ID cards:
The tournament is a 5-man tournament, with format and rules very similar to the Centurio EPL. The rules will be available on the website within the following weeks. Once again similar to Centurio EPL, three divisions will be opened and teams can participate according to their level of play and experience. All teams are expected to be playing a minimum of 7-8 games. The list of registered teams can be found of the tournament website, and is updated daily as registrations are received and accepted. ID cards will be required from all team players and personnel that wish to enter the playing fields and team areas. Millennium and Centurio EPL player cards for the 2007 season will be accepted, all other players and personnel will have to register to receive a TPPL ID card, which is 10 Euros per person.
Expenses / Food:
Since the organization will take place within the holiday village, teams are not expected to experience any problems with food and beverages. Meals will be provided to teams as part of the all-inclusive package. Teams are encouraged to bring along some money for spending on shopping and food outside of the holiday village. ID Cards and shuttles will also have the relevant pricing mentioned above.
