Greetings n Salam .....

Strider here from Malaysia ... been glued to paintball n trying to develop it in my country... so here goes.

Recently paintball has been accepted by a selected few in Malaysia but know things are getting hot. The local TV news has covered the demo of Paintball Sport done in one of the biggest University in Malaysia. So cuurently the local papers are interested.

The association in looking into starting a tournament in Malaysia. So this is it guys, care to give some pointers. I REALLY NEED IT.

I am still young in the sport

There are people on here far more qualified than me to help you with this, but since no one is bothered Ill give you my tips.

Im sure you are all sorted regarding insurance etc, that is the biggest cost and risk, once that is in place you are heading in the right direction.

The other thing which you need to remember is an old saying we have:
"from tiny acorns mighty oaks grow"
What i mean by this is dont be put off if you only get a few teams at your first few events.

I helped referee the first Midlands Masters tournament here in the UK, there was less than 10 teams in attendance.
Now the midlands masters is the most successful series in the UK and is usually fully booked every event.

Now apart from that you need some good teams, good refs and good land.

Good teams and reffing may take a while, but if all the teams are improving together then they will enjoy it just the same.

All you need for your site is an area of flat grass land , away from public footpaths.
You will need netting and tools and materials to build simple shelters for the teams to set up.
Also you need some supair fields, they can be a big cost, so you may have to buy one and then get more as your tournament grows.

Facilities are secondary but need to be sufficient. Areas for the teams to set up must have tables and chairs and a roof. You will also need toilets and food. The food can be an additional source of income.

By far the most important thing is safety, if people are injured or their property is damaged they wont want to come back.

All fields need to be netted individually all the way round, if this is not the case the players will feel uneasy about the danger. You also need to net off the safe area and car park to protect peoples belongings.

I hope that helps.
Good luck.

I know that the King of Thailand is very interested in promoting paintball as a sport in Thailand and has endorsed a number of paintball sotes throughout the country. It may be worth speaking to the guys at the Koa Samui paintball park, im sure they would love to help! They also have a team that travels to foreign tournies.

Hope this helps
