so what did people think?

this is the 1st event ive managed to get to this season but tbh....millenium aint what it used to be. felt like a domestic tourny....only bigger.......

any other thoughts?

don't let your overall standings affect your opinion. anyone who lost will always cuss the marshalls while those who won will praise the tourny to the hills. level headed responses

those who read pgi this month (CC review) would have seen these 2 quotes and i think it sums up the downward spiral

"Millenium need to ask themselves, why do these people keep coming back?"

and Robbos best quote ever

"You guys millenium. You F**KED european paintball"

To be honest this was a CRAPPY event - probably one of the worst I have ever been to alongside Belgium ! Sad but true since the French events usually are fantastic, but in direct comparison to last years Toulouse it flat out sucked !

Venue being in a crappy crappy area nowhere near anything but 2 gypsy camps and a truck stop !

People getting robbed when walking back to 1 of only 2 hotels close by - woohoo for being lucky enough to get rooms in one of those and not needing to rent a car, when it then turns out you are not allowed to do that max. 10 minute short walk back to your hotel ! Yes exactly what I wrote: We always got stopped at the entrance gate getting told we were not allowed out unless we had guys (bodyguards!) walking with us, yeah we might be girls BUT it was not a good neighbourhood at all. 2 giant and quite frightening looking security guards watching the gates all day long - and keeping this gate closed for the entire day as well - sort of explains just how bad it was !

There were no non-paintball related spectators what so ever of course due to abovementioned and then furthermore the layout also had been done so it was pretty awkward getting to both div. 1, 2 and M5 field, which meant hardly any one watching those games all weekend.

Also there were crappy surface, crappy toilets (and showers which some clever paintballers decided to **** in as well!!) - crappy everything ! Only good thing I can say is that there were grandstands at the CPL and SPL field and that the food and reffing were descent - THAT'S IT !

STEP UP MILLENNIUM !!!!!!!

i thought the event was pretty well run, campaing and malaga were definately better but there was nothing i could really complain about. I didnt have any problems with the reffing. But the event wasnt to great for my team, bad results and our captain decided he wasnt our captain any longer saturday morning which didnt help the team morale i must say.

The only thing that i will complain about is getting shot in the ironmen vs Joy game. The last point was being played and as joy went to finsish the game i got shot in the face. Guess its just a one in a million chance of it happening so i cant really complain.

Coming from the North American view point of only seeing coverage of the Millennium in magazines and paintball DVD's this being the first year playing in the Millennium Series things are not up to par from what I have expect nor from what other paintball friends of mine who have played in years before have talked about. This of course can be linked to the downfall in the amount of players due to the recession in the economy. When the industry hurts, events hurt as well but I don't think that is the be all end all in the case here. The layout of where spectators were able to watch the fields wasn't well planed which caused less people to watch games in the lower than SPL levels, the players area being in a central place works great but could have been directly open to where the entry point to the venue was placed. It does make sense to drive players through the vendors booth area but that was not the case to enter the players area since you only had to walk past the CPL field. The security was up and down at times and I did find it strange when going for a walk to be told that I could be robbed if we were not careful. The promotion in the local newspaper might have increased the awareness to an extent but if the venue is not safe Joe Public will not attend even if it sounds like something interesting.

I think that the industry booths will draw more players into if they offer additional perks, say for example free wireless access will make players hang out in the tents longer and draw others in as well which can turn into sales if not better relations with the players. I went to do an update on how things were going and since our team was camping and there was no information on local places to go for anything be it food, entertainment, etc. I tried to hop on the Millennium wireless but was not allowed, while it is understood as to why but when it is help promoting the event your attending it would be in the interest of the organizers, companies and everyone involved to make sure there is access for information to be spread far and wide as things take place.

While I have no idea of how the events have been run before I am sure that with the current situation things are in it has causes for a more slimed down version of the events over all. While I hope things are adjusted for the rest of the season having attended over 6 PSP World Cups there just was no feel for the event in Toulouse as having a title as World Cup aside from the additional teams attending the ICC.

I enjoyed the event & the weather was great:D

It would have been nice to have a more direct route to the fields for the players, all that wandering up & down lugging your gear about only to realize you've left something in the van to go alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back, then allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back to your gear was fun for about a millisecond, i would have watched games from the grandstand & looked around all the trade stands anyway;).

On the whole the marshalling was good. sadly on a certain field it was biased in favour of the French teams  You know who you are, i saw you wipe that hit from that French players hopper! bad judge! BAD JUDGE! I hope your gun spits soup next time you play!

I'm not quite sure why people felt the need to crap in the on site showers:confused: However there where plenty of them so you could avoid it if you looked hard enough;)

To end on a high, well done Nexus, awsome finish:D

that place near you
to be honest i thought it was a pretty poor attempt, as a few people have already said reffing was on the biased side, but you kinda come to expect that. My main issue was with the security at the gate trying to stich us up every time for taxi's knowing full well that we could'nt speak the lingo. Also why pick such a $hit venue? middle of no where and completely unaccessable and unless you lived very near you were getttin stiffed for 30 euroes every cab journey:mad:
