Wow, I have just got home from Toulouse (10 hour drive.. ouch!) and I am still shell shocked by this awesome event. From superb fields and a wonderful staging/drinking/eating/chilling area, to the best marshalling so far this season - I have absolutely nothing negative to write about. I take my hat off to Lauren - this guy really knows how to put on a show.
Some of the non-playing highlights for me included:
A great trade show.
People bringing each playing team a box of drinks and fresh fruit to their staging tables.
A full service restaurant in the safe area (I know, the shock nearly killed me when the waiter came over and asked if I would like a drink from the bar!!).
The amusement of watching a french rock band playing in kilts (someone please explain that to me!?!)
Playing-wise things were better still:
Virtually every game starting on time.
The fields were fantastic, the surface was even better than last year (which was like carpet - I felt I should take my boots off when stepping on the field!).
The marshalls were very very active, on top of virtually every move and making (and sticking to) some very tough calls - well done to all of you, can't have been easy with 14hr days in 30 degree heat!
As for my team - what can I say? 3rd Am entry in the Millenium Series after stepping up from Novice and we only miss the finals by 4 points - winning 10 out of 13 games all weekend and nearly nailing Dynasty. Best team I have ever played with.
See you all in Sweden - I am counting the days already.
