For a company who invented everything ever to do with paintball, I see this as completely fair. They are just covering themselves from other companies pirating all their hard work.

You reckon they could get away with that? After all, other people were building eyes before SP came out with one.... Dan Bonebrake comes to mind.

As I misread what they had applied for. But yes, to answer your question, they can pretty much get away with whatever they want now. Since no-one attempted to get their original patent for the 'Electronic Paintball Marker' revoked it is now deemed as their invention according to the US Patnent office.
