74-year-old television personality Dick Clark is being sued by his 76-year-old former business partner over age discrimination. Ralph Andrews alleges that the media mogul refused to hire him for a development position at Dick Clark Productions because he is too old. In a rejection letter to Andrews, Clark wrote "People our age are considered dinosaurs. The business is being run by 'The Next Generation.'" According to Andrews' attorney Phillip R. Maltin, this is a violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act, which makes it illegal for an employer to discriminate based upon age. Andrews, who produced the '70s programs By the Numbers, Celebrity Sweepstakes, and You Don't Say, has known Clark for 40 years and hired him to work on the 1997 gameshow remake of It Takes Two.
