Tippmann Pro-am (similar to pro-lite) Leak

Hi chaps I've got a problem with a prehistoric marker.

I've just plugged an air tank into my uncles old pro-am since my guns down and I'm in need of a marker for the morning.

After dry firing a little and putting a few balls though its developed a major leak from either the bolt or the nut from which the macroline feeds up into the bolt.

The problem is I have no instructions for this marker just a warranty card which i think may have expired about 15-20 yrs ago and haven't found anything useful online bar a video detailing bolt disassembly which I've just given a try and hasn't helped.

The closest thing to instructions I've found are some assembly instructions which have teflon paste listed in the parts  http://www.tippmann.com/pdfs/manuals/PROCARBINE_Schematics.pdf

So does anyone have any experience with this marker or problem and can they offer me any advice on sorting it??

Thanks

Welllllll, I've never come across a tippy pro-am, but i'm 98% sure you can do the same thing with teflon tape as teflon paste. As your problem is in the bolt, it's probably got nothing to do with the teflon.
I know very little of the operations of that series, can you take it apart and take some pictures of the inside? Bolt leak is crying out "valve face/oring" to me.

Edit: Looking at that manual, you want to get to the part labelled "CA-V valve" and check/lube the oring. Do the same with "CA-11".

I've stripped it down as much as I can and can't find anything wrong with the O-rrings I can get at.

Unfortunatly the grip seems to be moulded on with some sort of security screw type things to remove the inner parts once it is removed from the bolt casing (not sure if thats the right term for the top part of the marker).

It seems to be a similar case with the handle being bolted to the bolt casing as their flat and round heads, the gold part is safety.

on the bottom view there are 2 allen key screws that have limited movement and seem to be for adjusting the marker rather than holding anything in place.

Could the issue be that this marker has stock parts and using hpa over c02 has been to much for it?

Marker with as much stripped as I can figure out how to. I've placed the parts of the bolt level with where they have come from in the marker but there is still a section in the middle which won't come out.

Okies, so try to locate the leak. It could just be the air fitting, in which case unscrew the air fitting, wrap some teflon tape around the thread (make sure it's not wrapped such that it will unravel) then screw it back in again and give it a go.

If it's leaking down the bolt, then I'd put it down to difference in spring tension pushing the valve open. I can't help you there, that's about as far as my basic airsmith knowledge goes i'm afraid!

sounds like its the brass nut which attaches the macro line to the valve on the main body, they were nortorious for leaking as the internal valve are made from alloy mine did it and i ended up getting a custom stainless steel valve from H.O.G (many, many years ago)
like one man band said the only way to stop the leak is either teflon tape or loktite sealant

I have a pro-am manual but its not worth the effort of trying to scan as they were not very helpfull and the prolite pdf is similiar by the looks of it.

Cheers for the advice:)

But I cant even get the connecting rod to sit in the front and back bolts now as the front bolt is sitting to far forward >.<

Mike could you tell me what the two allen key sockets on the underside of the bolt casing at the front of the gun are for?

If i'm thinking correctly.....
The smaller one that is attached to the silver strip is the ball detent cover, underneath is a foam detent.
The bigger of the two screws and nearer to the trigger is the velocity adjuster.

Here's my old tippy pro-am 1993 vintage

cheers, I'll be needing that in the morning, guess I'll have to play with the leak regardless.

Sorted the connecting rod issue though...had the front bolt in backwards:rolleyes:
