Tippmann Launches Gryphon Brand Targeted to New Players
‘Starter Kit’ featuring .68 Caliber Gryphon Marker, Goggles, and Tank will be Sold at Entry-Level Price
BUFFALO GROVE, IL (November 1, 2010) – Three years ago, Tippmann Sports launched the TPN™ Paintball brand, which provided players at all experience levels with a true military look right out-of-the-box at a great value. This brand quickly became a big success and is now one of the most popular brands in paintball. Due in part to the strong response to its TPN Paintball products – and the reality that there are few good marker options available at an entry-level price – Tippmann is once again launching an exciting new marker brand: introducing Gryphon™ Paintball. The Gryphon marker is targeted to new paintball players and will be sold as part of a ‘Starter Kit,’ which will include the marker, goggles, 200-round hopper, and a tank – all at a great entry-level price.
The Gryphon brand will provide new players with the reliability, performance and durability that can be found in all Tippmann-manufactured products, but it will be available at a new lower price. The new marker is very lightweight and incorporates numerous premium features, including: an internal gasline for a cleaner look, a rigid and ergonomically-designed front grip, a center-feed design to maximize mobility, a high-impact body, a blade trigger for a smoother trigger pull, a high performance and ported barrel for reduced sound and improved accuracy, and the legendary reliability of the Tippmann inline bolt system. The Gryphon was designed by John Rice (JR), who has helped to develop some of the most well-known and top-performing markers in the paintball industry and played a key role in modifying the inline bolt system body frame and loader position to give the Gryphon a very balanced feel.
“When I first joined the Tippmann team, I was offered many interesting projects, but this one intrigued me the most because I felt like I could make a real difference in the industry by developing a good looking, quality marker that will appeal to first-time players and be available as a complete package at an entry-level price,” JR said. He continued, “To get new players into the game, the industry really needs something reliable at this price point – and by incorporating Tippmann’s inline bolt system – we were able to make this challenge a reality.”
Gryphon – New Paintball Marker Brand from Tippmann Sports
In addition to launching this new marker brand, Tippmann also plans to aggressively recruit new players into paintball with a marketing program that focuses primarily outside of the category. Of course, this outreach program will include the company’s rapidly-expanding Social Media networks, including those on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
“We’re certainly excited to have JR on board here at Tippmann,” said Patrick Ehren, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing. “He has incredible insight into how a marker should look and perform, and we strongly believe that we have a winner with the new Gryphon paintball marker. Although JR is working on many projects, we felt this one was among the most important because we really want to encourage new players to get into the game by giving them a quality marker that will ensure their first paintball experience is a positive one.”
In addition to the starter kit, the Gryphon will also be sold as a basic marker-only package. A limited supply of these new markers is expected to be available at major sporting goods stores and paintball dealers during the upcoming holiday shopping season. For additional details, please visit tippmann.com or call the company at 1-800-533-4831.
For more than 20 years, Tippmann Sports has been dedicated to quality manufacturing as well as cutting edge technology and design. The company serves the global paintball industry from its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana as well as its warehouse in Brussels, Belgium. Tippmann Sports’ complete line of paintball markers and related accessories can be found at paintball stores and fields as well as mass retail and sporting goods outlets throughout the world.
