Well, like most Tippmanns , it tough and hard wearing. It's got the new "Cyclone" feed system,so it feeds one ball per trigger pull, no more chopped balls. It's easily upgraded, with drop-in electro kits on the way, or Modified T'98 RT triggers available now. It'll do 15 a second and you can win tournaments with them(assuming your'e in team "Tippmann Effect" ;) )It takes pro-carb barrels, widely available.
It makes cappucinos and tells your fortune .....;)

in boredom i had a look at one on the angel stand (of all places) at campaign.
They are tippmanns through and through. (which is both good and bad)
They feed system is novel, but the hopper has a relatively small capacity, and you can only use the one it comes with.

it feels like plastic! correct me if im wrong, but is the A-5 not made mostly out of "high durability" plastic??? a guess in an attempt to reduce its weight.

i personally dont like it, but, it is still a marker, and maybe with a few upgrades i might like it a bit more. if you budget can afford a A-5 and you like tippmanns, then you'll love it.
If you dont like tippmanns, stay well clear of it.

about as impartial as i get.

Saw this thread and thought of my very first experience of trying to buy a marker i.e. I looked at the Tippmanns (unfortunately I was converted, no corrupted by people with shiny autococker then Angel things).

If you want a lot of reviews and info, then a good site for this and other products is pbreview.com. (up to date too).

I do wonder about the impartiality of the reviewers as there are a lot of 10/10's (and most people normally only review when seriously pi155ed off). Mind you this is true for most all the other markers.

I too noticed it at Campaign on the WDP stand (is there a WDP - Tippman link? or was it a comparison type thing). Whilst a pleasure to behold for many, I thought; "whoaaa resembles a MP5 far too much".

If you want a starter marker and the quasi military look is your thing, then it should make a good buy (the 112 "impartial" reviewers on pbreview thought so). The reviewers also rated it's similarity to the MP5 which some find "mildly" contentious. Personally I share this view (I'm a shiny champagne man myself) , but hey, it would be handy for robbing the local post office on the way home from the walk-on day (if you take the hopper off and had left the sawn-off at home)

;) ;) ;)

Only joking there!!! It's all a matter of taste, just not mine.

One more piece of info, the site lists pretty much all the upgrades available and how they perform, so this could be interesting for you.

I really don't think that the A-5 looks that much like an MP5. Other than the fore grip, the front cocking mech and the sight there's not that much resembalence.

These guys from Armotech are far closer in design.
