Tippman 98 or Spyder Xtra?

I've narrowed my search for a marker down to two guns:

Tippman 98 Custom or the Spyder Xtra. They are about the same price and I'm not sure which one I should get. They both seem like good guns...

Also, does anybody have any opinions on the vertical feed that the Xtra has? Is it a plus or minus?

A couple people told me just to get a Shutter, but the shutter is more expensive (I don't have much available cash) and on www.pbreview.com it got lukewarm reviews.

I posted this in the newbie forum but I didn't really get any strong opinions, so I'm trying it again here...

Thanks for your help. :)

Go with Tippmann

Given a choice between the two, I would go with the Tippmann for a couple of reasons. First is the simpler design with fewer problems. They're quite well known and have been for years as being the most reliable entry level gun on the market. Also they're not oddly sized for parts such as drop forwards, hoses, etc. Oh, and the reactive trigger add-on which is significantly cheaper than an electronic frame adds a lot of potential should you so desire one. Also the barrel threading is quicker, meaning you can get the barrel off faster to clean it out should you break a ball.

agreed.......

I just bought a tippmann model 98 about a week ago. I havn't used it yet, put I have practice about everything that I can think of that might happen to me in a game. (Since I am a newbie, I probably have not tried everything.) For example: I ran a barrel squeege through, changed barrels, changed C02 tanks, greased it up some, and changing o-rings. That might not be a lot, but I have much more to learn. ;)

id go with either, tippmanns have great duribility and ****, but spyders have more upgrades in my opinion, and to get most barrels on a tippmann u have to either pay for an adapter, or pay extra for the rite bore size to fit a tippmann, but the xtras drop foward sucks, and thats what your paying extra fro anyway,
