Tippman 98 Help

Guys,

I have a used Tippman 98 as a second marker, and cannot dial it over approx. 210fps.

I'm advised that a remedy for this is to change all the internal o-rings, and was wondering two things....

a) It this a correct diagnosis

And if so.....

b) Where do I get a set from?

For info: using Co2, no obvious leaks, and have fired about 2000 paint through it with no problems other than as listed above.

Any help appreciated.

Yorkshire.
I'd replace the O-rings if you are using CO2.

Also, try paintballstore.tv. I thing they might sell 98 o-ring kits.

Hope that helped.

Sometime it being to far in or to far out can cause the opposite of what its supposed to do.
Going by a tippmann forum:
Check your velocity screw. Make sure it is not too far in, remember to make the velocity higher, screw it out, and to make it lower, screw it in.

Check your drive spring. Make sure it is not bent or rusted and that it is more than 4” long, a stock one is about 4 ½”. If it is shoter than 4", net, or rusted replace it with a new one.

Check your powertube, make sure it is in good condition and not cracked.
If you have co2 make sure the temperature that you are shooting in is not too extreme.

One other thing to try is run 3-5 drops of gun oil through the asa (lovejuice is what I use)

Ta!

Thats great advice Swiss Tony. I know now what kind of things to look for to see perhaps what is causing the lack of velocity.

As for the screw, when trying to chrono I adjusted from when it was all the way in, where it hardly pushed the ball out, and as I screwed it out a bit at a time, velocity steadily increased until it maxed out at about 210fps, then no more.

Thanks again....

Very good Stencil:D
I dont think Co2 gets that badly effected bye cold weather, but maybe wrong, all the guns we use can be clocked up to 300 even on a winters day.

One other thing I would check is the bit that depresses the pin on your bottle, inside the asa. (unless u have and on/off system)
I had a couple at work that had slightly dodgy asas with smaller pins and also ones with badly drilled holes so they would always p!ss out co2.
