So who do you think is gonna be the first company to produce a paintball marker that is sealed and factory set at 285fps.
No tampering, no hot markers, no chrony (well maybe at the beginning of the day)..........is it a dream, it's in motor sport u know!!!!!!

need to get hold of Tank for an exit
That would be the same company to make the barrel fixed (so no upgrade barrels of different bore) and make sure that every single paintball in the world is absolutely perfectly exactly the same size :D

Although saying that, I'm sure there was a rumour a few years back that there was about to be a new model shocker with a built in chrono.

Or maybe that was one of the many times paintball conversation and pints of Pedigree lead to strange places.  :D

285.....wtf? I want 299, 299, 299!!

Besides, you cant 'seal' the velocity of a marker because the shape and size of different paint brands can effect fps.

Thats why 285fps, it will force paint companys to have a consistant ball and pukker storage, gives you 15fps to play with!!
Just like in motor sport!!! (tech heads will love the challenge of gaining that 15fps) oh and standard barrel bore size but coating and trick ups are allowed.

think about it!!!

Even if all marker manufacturing companies were able to set all parameters to meet such a precise standard with the markers & the paint companies were able to do the same and all the barrel companies didnt win the court battles that would take place restricting them to produce only one size bore and you managed to compensate for the swelling of a paintball due to heat and mosture... all of which is really very unlike, if at all possible....

you would still have to have a point where the marshalls checked the markers to see if they were of a type that met these standards and check to see they weren't tampered with in any way which would probably take longer than the chronogarphing of all the players thus not saving any time at all....

thus making it a mute point.... dont you think?

Right then Pete, i'll screw up and throw these world dominating marker plans in the bin then.........my dreams gone.... wail wail sob sob.

Any way i was talking long long time in the future, when we have extreme hover skateboards as an olympic sport, and the M25 is always free flowing:D

Couple of problems with this idea. Firstly, a bad paint/bore match can make up to 40 fps difference. And it's not just manufacturers that store the paint, there's the shops/sites that sell it, & some players keep theirs at home for a while. Then, as Pete M says, there's humidity to take into account.
Secondly, the temperature can make a difference even with air to a small degree, & with CO2 it can make a big difference.
