Anyone else noticed that people will appear to still be online up to 15 minutes after going offline?

How does the system work? does it count down from your last post? or as long as you've got the window open or something? I never really thought about it before
There's also a forum glitch so that mikey appears to be offline at times... This is not the case.

Nowt can be done about that. A web server can only see when a user loads a page, it has no way of telling when the user has stopped looking at the page. So all it can do is assume that the user has left if no pages have been requested in a few minutes.
On other forums the green icon means that the user was active in the last 15 mins. And they all use the same forum template as this, so i guess its the same.
