i have threaded the socket on the banjo fitting, tightened it too much.
any ideas how to undo it? cheers

you mean you've rounded the allen key fitting on the top??
If so, try a flat headed screw driver wedged in and tapped (gently) with a hammer to get a tight fit, then use mole grips on the screwdriver.
Which banjo fitting is it? If its the one into the reg then its gonna be tricky, if its the others then surely a pair of mole grips will do it.

Unless anyone else has any better idea's I would try using a flat headed screwdriver wedged into the fitting and try that way.
It shouldnt be that hard to unscrew unless you REALLY forced it round.
On my old ions I never did them up much more than hand tight, just enough to keep em snug as The metal on the frame/threads is pretty poor and the risk of fcuking em up is quite high if your not carefull.

I have got another idea.... get an old allen key and loctite the key into the banjo and then wait for 12 or so hours. Then un-screw the banjo. I have done the same as you in the past, just make sure you dont break the thread off of the banjo leaving it stuck in the regulator.

I think that's what he's already done mate....
I did exactly the same a while ago, luckily the thread that came off inside the hole had broken in 2 and just fell out but if yours hasn't...BE VERY CAREFUL when you try to remove it. Maybe a small flat head screwdriver will help you to gently turn it the other way so it drops out but if it's well in there you might consider one of those thread reverser thingies (not sure on the proper name, LOL).
