Thats why you would still need marshalls! But it would show a marshall where a hit could possibly be, and eliminate the need for so much bitching about marshalling in tourneys!

After thinking about it some more, I think the question would be how could they get around the impact of diving on the floor? Would that impact really be that much less than that of a hit?

It would be a nice idea though!

Well in theory you could have your senors in a built in suit that registers if your hit or not and have that connected to your marker so that when you recieve a hit you are then prevented from firing again Most people now use electros so this wouldnt be that hard.

If used as a stand alone system there would be no need to use paint, instead everyone could use reusable balls, the system would register the hit in the same way. These could then be supplied for hire by the site or tournament and recovered after the event. There would also be no problems with bounce.

But do we really want to play a jazzed up version of laser tag? and would anyone really want to watch?

I think that if you use reusable balls then it would suck!

It could bring rise to a super tourney style game... Played out like American Football, where say two teams of Ten play X-Ball style and everytime a hit is registered the clock is stopped (enough time to queue the re-play) a marshal comes onto the field (where his palm top tells him where on the baller the hit has registered), he checks and pulls the guy out or play continues and the clock continues to go! Buy splitting up different plays in this way, it would false the teams to come up with set plays and 'power moves'. this would make better TV.

As far as runthoughs are conserned the Palm tops would be able to record all hits in the order they happen! This would mean than any bouncers, would be seen! Because again the marshal would have the ability to call the players hits in order they happen and restart to game in a completely fair way!!!

To be honest I can't see anyone putting up the money for this, and I'm happy to play tourney ball, but a boy can dream can't he?!

By splitting up the plays in this way it would be sooo much more specator friendly!

the question I keep asking myself is, 'Why should we change the game we love? Should we not be promoting the game as it is? Instead of trying to change it to suit the ever important American TV market?'

Pinki: I'm doing fine! Tired as hell! I got a gig the night before the D7's! So I'm gonna be FUBAR'd! HUSSAR!!!!

No need to stop play....why even have the marshall at all? If the suit could tell it was hit, it could be wirelessly connected to the marker, and the suit would shut the marker down once a hit is recorded. Thus player hit= can't play on. :)
