Thinking of starting a site.

Hey guys, Im thinking of buying and starting a training site on the Wirral (Near Liverpool). I was just wondering how much interest there would be for such a site around here, as I cant seem to find one anywhere close enough to make it worthwhile to travel to 3 times a month.

Im thinking of renting it out to teams to practice on or have games or whatever, and also to have days where anyone can come down and play.

Thoughts or comments? Would you play on a full sup air site?

Be gentle...

Speak to past training site owners - Markie C for example. He will give you the heads up on how it is.

Not really looking to make profit. More to just train on for our team really, but cant justify spending 2grand just for 1 team if you know what I mean :p

And to be honest... Ive fired reballs and I dont think it would be a feasbile option. Speaking to site owners about them, they hate them. That, and they wreck your barrels. Not worth it :p

i think what hes tryin to say is, is there any teams which will be up for travelling to the wirral or any teams close to the wirral to play sup air all day, this is only for training and it isnt going to be seen as a money making organisation, i think all he wants is to break even, get a good load of training out of it and meet new peeps and teams. i know him personally and he is defo not tryin to profit out of this.

Course I aint looking to loose money. Im asking around people I know play paintball to , spread the cost if they want to. Not a problem anyway, hopefully...

Plan of attack, and if you haven't considered any of these points then you're going to want to go back and think long and hard about it, this isn't an overnight thing, and it's certainly not easy for the return(s):

1. Find a field. (Bearing in mind you're going to want a nice flat grassy one, and those are usually reserved for other, more profitable things)
2. Construct a 'safe' netted field area. (If you're using poles or any permanent system or attaching netting you need planning permission, which can take a very long time to sort)
3. Get yourself a sup'air field. (Simple 5man field may do to start, but bear in mind you'll only attract bigger teams/the masses with the latest Mills' field)
4. Sort out air facilities. (Dive tanks don't really cut it once you start getting a couple of teams there who want to actually get a full days play in)
5. Paint (It doesn't grow on trees or spring up from the undergrowth, and most teams don't turn upto training with their own, they expect the site to have some for sale)
6. Storage. (If you don't want the local underlings from coming around and pinching everything, you're going to need some permanent storage facility on-site, or, large enough vehicles/trailers to take everything away with you)
7. Bunker cleaning bits and bobs (Simple really, but it's the little things)

Then, once you're up and running, you have the one huge thing that most people seem to miss. You actually have to set-up, clean, pack away, and look after your main assets; the bunkers. No more turning up to find the field magically up and looking perfect, and no more leaving at 4pm, you'll be there until 5, whether it's pissing it down or going dark; everyone else will be home and getting warm after a poor days weather, but you'll still be slogging it out rec-site style.

Then on top of this, you'll have the critics, and the people who no matter how much effort you'll put into your site, they'll knock it for some reason or another. Might sound silly, but if you can't take some 'constructive criticism', forget it.

Speak to Markie C too as someone already said, his site near your area had to close recently.

If you've considered all that and anything else I may've missed, and still think it's actually worth the effort, then goodluck to you!
