Hi all, I have a mate who is trying to get me into paintballing. I am looking to get into sinario gamming and looking to buy a rap4 T68 or a tippman X7

I like the idea of using magazines which the T68 uses, but is paintballing all about, just rapid firing..?? if so the t68 would be a waste of money.

secondly when you go to meets can you get CO2 bottles filled betwean games and is there a major advantage betwean CO2 and air

Sorry if this is a basic question but I want to buy the right gear
Thanks

Scenario-wise there is no requirement for 'milsim' and the use of mag fed markers like the T68.

This could have issues regarding the VCRA and will fall foul of customs if imported, if bought via Rap4 UK you ought not have problems.

Regarding paint spraying - you get both high and low rates of fire in scenario, and 'speedball' markers are used in the woods as well.

CO2 vs air - go for air as the majority of sites now run on air. Certain sites still use CO2 so check for where you will be playing. For scenario events expect air to be provided, and these days CO2 will be less likely to be available. (Check out http://www.ukscenario.com/forum/index.php)

Of the two markers you have mentioned I would recommend the X7, but do try to get to some games and ask to check out other players markers.

The marker/gun really is your choice... i brought a BT delta, much like an X7 and immediatly upgraded to an invert mini...

however you would be much better getting a cheap marker and owning a carbon fibre HPA (air) tank, than a good one on CO2... CO2 will give you much worse performance from your marker, and even with a good regulator can fluctuate the speed of your paintballs (making it dangerous for others)

Before you splash the cash get yourself along to a game whether a big game, walk on or site one. If it's a big game or open walk on there'll be plenty of paintballers with their toys so ask away. Their generally friendly. Even the big games you can hire kit for the day if you book. The only thing you need to play paintball is a pair of Goggles. Everything else is extra's. Though you do have to be good to get a kill without a marker I have done it, once in 6 years, marker died I threw paint, it broke, yey me!

I am in Birmingham, I looked at stoke and a place in Telford, its just up my street. I like the throught of true battlefield fun, not just firing hundreds of rounds a second

I belive basetts pole has a sup air reball arena that attracts tourney players plus a good woodsball setup so both types of play. Haven't been up there myself for a while but it was very good 4 years ago and has been improving since so I hear.

Bassets Pole

I currently play at Bassets Pole, the poeple there are all friendly, and im sure if you ask politley they would let oyu have a go with thier markers, it may be an idea to join the national paintball fields forum, also they have facilities for sup-air and woods play, most own gunners use air as it's cleaner safer and easier to use. your best bet is to book in for the coming weekend festival of paintball, its £60 for a party on the saturday night camping over and then 7 and half hours of solid paintball the following day, the cost covers 2000 paintballs and any rental gear you require, go to http://www.nationalpaintballfields.com/ for more information on the event or alternativley call 0121 327 3961, they should be able to help you, people at the event im sure would allow you to have a few shots with thier guns, everyone likes talking about thier gear.

Hope this helps

There is also Stormforce at Rugeley, which isn't too far from you, about 20-30 minutes. Mark is very friendly there and the walk-on guys will be happy to talk about various markers I'm sure.

Also Predator Sports at Coventry/Ansty, J2 of M6. We should be down there as a team for the 14th August walk-on.

Both sites will allow you to rent gear until you decide what to buy for yourself.
