ok guys time i joined the people who own a gun actually designed this century, but i wanna know some stuff

i wanna know about the EGO here so no "nah buy what i'm sponsored by" type replies please, you won't really be helping much

1, what is the best input pressure for them high or low?

2, has anyone tried a freak kit on one, successfully or otherwise?

3, has anyone had any serious grief with one?

4, has anyone even tried anything other than the stock barrel on it? (so far i've not spoken to anyone who has!!)

5, what should i be looking out for in a secondhand one?

6, what should i pay for it?

7, how often do they need serviceing, would i be able to do it myself or what would it cost?

8,any other thing you can tell me?

cheers guys

1. HP is safer bet. had shootdown on 06 with LP. LP on 05 was fine
2. no comment
3. none of our team. use good paint, take care of your marker and use good batteries = happy days. only thing that really gets worn out is the 05 detents, but not always. but that is the only thing i can think of that would warrant minor attention from time to time.
4. ultralites, 2 peice shafts - all good
5. nexus bolt, latest software, ccu kit, aftermarket barrel
6. £375 stock 05. expect to pay over £450 for one with 'everything'. seen 06 go for £650
7. clean rammer and oil it every days play (2 min job) clean LPR and inline every few months, again 5 min job see planet for videos. clean eyes 2 min job. very easy to maintain.
8. they are great, they are cheap for the money especially 2nd hand 05's. very easy to set up and nothing required "Out of the box". most of the upgrades are cosmetic (CCU, ram caps) however a good bolt is a plus, recommend the Nexus one. fast, light, gas efficient, very few things can go wrong on them, lots of people have them so good user knowledge base/help. great support from planet eclipse. always people on the market for one if you hate it you can easily sell it again.

cos i havent used one, ever in fact
will add that planet sponsor the team i play for so my views are biased so take all with pinch of salt ;););):D

seriously though, i had an ego before all that and it was the best gun i ever used. well worth the cash even for what i paid back then.

I am pretty impartial...tho I will admit to liking Eclipse stuff, for the most part.

They do work OK with a Freak...my team Captain used one on his new ego, this weekend, no problems.

I use a Redz Pepper stick, because Im a flash Harry and have the means to acquire them easily! Also, they rock...muchly.

Pretty much what Lovetone said really...they are easy to maintain, dont have ****loads of o-rings to worry about, prettyy simple in operation, not overly fiddly...

I run a Virtue board in mine, but, I like Virtue, so I would.

I have Nexus Bolt, I use a Hybrid Adjustable Ram cap...NOT, repeat NOT, for its adjustment capabilities, but because I liek teh way it looks, and means I can get teh rammer out without tools. It also hides teh one black part on my Blue gun, that I didnt get annodised!

Budgie is agood source for quality used guns, I know he had two going for £355 and £365, also a Mantis for around £450 and a Slothball, Olive anno one for around teh same.

Only thing I find, having teh star frame on my XSV, teh OOPS on it, makes my setup too long, so I need to get a CP or DYE Aeroport, so I can shorten teh length.

Oh btw Skeet (sorry to thread jack) i've been using a 45ci bottle on mine now for the last tourney (Phoenix Indoor). I was getting 3 pots (and my first hopper) to 1000psi (which is the most I used in one game there).
So you are talking a safe 8 pots!! Get a 45ci bottle mate, the planet oops is far better than the CP or Dye on/offs.
