what is with all these theft's recently? i've seen a number of "missing" markers/kit in announcements and now just browings through the tournament board i see a number of thefts at the dartford 7's. What's going on? can the tournament orginisers hire more surcurity? or is it down to the stupidity of the players leaving their kit out on benches unatended?

i agree with you james, this stuff is crazy just one question.... why?

yeh i guess, but they're taking a huge risk of being caught doing that, its just stupid full stop, whats the point in getting a free sup'd up marker when u can have the joy of working to pay for stuff for it and make it look good on ur own part, bugger the rare parts!!!

again it is a big risk but people still do it , but dnt u think these people dnt care f##k what happens to them selfs or the team that they play for because no dout they will get a bad name a very bad name, some people dnt have the money so they may nick things and parts thats all i can say ive played for about when campane startd and i noticed that kit bags and gun was goin missing (nicked) so i have always lockd mine up or had my dad look after it so just be careful and i would like people 2 get caught , so look out for your kit and and over people because i will do the same for my kit as i would 2 over peoples.

It does suck that people take it upon themselves to theve from their friends, but it happens.

Everyone needs to safeguard their own equipment - you almost have to treat it like a kindergarden class. . .

- Keep all your Registration numbers in a safe place. . . if it has a number - write it down. Register any of your equipment with the manufactuer and keep a detailed record of what equipment you own.

- write your name on everything you own, or mark it in a way you can tell it apart from your team - and so you can easily recoginse it.

- keep photos of your equipment/marker, so in the event of a theft or loss you have a visual of your equipment. It can also be used to aid in a proof of ownership dispute

- Look into insurance for your equipment, or read the fine print of your household insurance

- Keep your equipment out of sight when at an event, anything on show is easy targets. Have someone stay with the equipment at all times (a gfriend, Pot Bitch, extra team member) or keep it locked up somewhere - like in someones car boot.

Promoters of events are between a rock and a hard place on security - because private hire companies cost a pretty penny - and the only way to afford it is to boost the entry fees. . . . . . how much extra would you pay for it?

Where else would you leave a couple of thousand pounds worth of kit lying around for all to see?

You go to any tourny and the oppurtunity is everywhere, we just leave all our kit for the taking and I am as guilty as anyone (of leaving kit around not pinching it).

I think we have all been lulled into a false sense of security over the years with very little stealing going on. Paintball was alot smaller and everyone knew everyone else.

Now its alot bigger and there are alot of new faces and so you dont think twice if someone you dont know walks off with some kit.

The solution is in our own hands.

Never leave your kit unattended!

I have recently been using a small alarm I purchased at PC World designed for protecting laptops etc. It has a spring-loaded retracting wire that loops around the kitbag, through the trigger guard etc and locks into place with a combination. Cutting the wire sets off the loud alarm, and it can also be set to react to movement with a choice of 4 or 8 second delays. Not bad for £10. The motion detection has to be used with caution, as otherwise it goes off whenever someone accidently kicks or brushes against the old kitbag, but at least all my gear is protected whilst I am out playing. It sucks that we have to take such precautions, but this is by no means a new problem; I have seen plenty of small stuff go walkies over the last 15 years, and paintballers can be a bit "rleaxed2 as far as squeegees etc are concerned. Marker thieves, however, deserve their own special circle of hell where they are forced to listen to PBNation monkeyboys dry firing and talking about gats and noobs for all eternity.
