Al Murray and The Shoreline Rangers present.........

D-Day

The Shoreline Rangers and Al Murray are delighted to announce the launch of D-Day.

D-Day will take place on the 28th & 29th May 2011 (Bank Holiday weekend) at the Holmbush Paintball Centre.

For this years instalment, the game is moving from the Scottish Adventure Centre south to the Holmbush Top Site. Last years D-Day game came runner-up in the voting for UK Game of the Year with everyone who attending agreeing it was an absolutely fantastic game of paint.

For this year, Al Murray has teamed up with the Shoreline Rangers to bring the D-Day experience to the South of England.

The last Rangers game was Terminator Wars in 2009, a game which was short listed for UK Game of the Year in that season. We're convinced that a teaming up of Al Murrays experience and the Rangers enthusiasm will pay dividends with a weekend of scenario paintball to remember.

The Holmbush facility is enormous and this event will be held on their 'top site', a set of fields to where the Tippmann Challenge UK will be held later in the year.

So what can you expect?

- 2 days of play

We'll be running games all day Saturday in the form of special Ranger style mini-games. These will not be your normal mini-games! Players are free to arrive and either register and get stuck in, or sit around and have a beer and shoot the breeze with fellow ballers. Sunday will consist of 2 long scenarios, and a final, ranger style dust up at the end. Waste your paint and get some pain!

- On-site catering

Holmbush's on-site catering will be providing a variety of hot and cold meals from burgers to healthy options for the more lard conscience of us.

- Camping

Camping is free of charge and located on-site. Everyone is welcome to camp or make use of the range of hotels in the area that suit every budget.

- Rangers Party!

Nothing flash, there'll be beer, there'll be decent music, there'll be Rangers..........so there'll be man dancing! The party is a chance to kick back and have a chat with fellow ballers over a few beers.

- Traders and Tech support

We'll finalise the trader line-up within the next week. But there will be traders and tech support on-site throughout the event.

- Paint and Pyro

You can bring your own, or purchase from the traders on-site.

- Photographers

The whole weekend will be covered and images available for download afterwards.

We're not trying to break the mould with this game or re-invent the wheel. What we're offering is a game designed by Al Murray and run by the Shoreline Rangers. That alone means a cracking scrap with decent experienced marshalls. Al's games are amongst the best in the UK and our own past event was also right up there - so a decent gun fight is guaranteed.

We're offering a couple of days of play with the opportunity to have a beer and kick back on the Saturday night with fellow ballers.

We'll have traders, HPA, catering, tech support, photographers, props, pyro and everything else we need for a good 'ol fashioned team organised scenario paintball event. It's the middle of summer on a bank holiday. What's not to like?

Details for the event can be found on our team website http://www.shorelinerangers.com including a link to purchase tickets online.

Over the next few days we'll release the details for the Generals and before the event we'll publish a comprehensive Player Pack which will contain all the information that you could possible need to play the game.

The Generals

Leading the Allied invasion, and pushing back the German defences will be Lt Gen. Mick 'Tackleberry' Beeby of the Renegade Rebels.

Leading the German defences, and repelling the Allied invasion will be Colonel Duncan "The Decorator" Martin of the Warren Wood Spartans.

"I've been running games for a long time now and my own site is just too busy this summer for me to host a scenario event there this time around. I approached the Shoreline Rangers to see if they would be interested in jointly working on an event and I'm delighted they agreed. They'll take my game plan and design and no doubt add their own twists, which is no bad thing. Holmbush is a great facility and the fact that D-Day will be held on a different site to the Tippmann Challenge UK event later in the year is a real bonus as players will get to see what the venue has to offer. It'll be a really good game, there's no doubt about that and I'm looking forward to working with the Shoreline Rangers between now and the end of May" - Al "The General" Murray

"We always intended to run another Rangers game in 2011. When Al Murray suggested a joint event we jumped at the chance. The D-Day game last year was fantastic and the opportunity to be involved this year and bring our own Rangers ideas to the table made it a no brainer. We're really excited to have secured the top site at Holmbush, it's a real scenario players dream and a great location for a decent dust up. D-Day will be on a bank holiday in the middle of summer, it'll be at a good site, with one of the UK's more experienced organisers behind it and run by the Shoreline Rangers team. That's a lot of boxes ticked. It's got all the ingredients for a good 'un. The Rangers look forward to seeing you all there. - Alex "TripleCC" Carney - Team Captain, The Shoreline Rangers

Announcement

Just another announcement to wet your appetites.

A full players pack containing all the information you’ll need will be release a couple of weeks prior to the game.

Saturday Games :

We can now reveal the games you’ll be able to play on the Saturday. We told you we don’t do standard minigames, so have a gander at these :

Ball Dog

Like British Bulldog, but with guns. One man starts in the middle, has to shoot the charging lot, once you're shot you’re in.
Carnage.

No Hoppers

As simple as it sounds. Ever tried to cram a ball down the feedneck whilst someone is charging you down? Well now you can experience it.

Paintball Football

Classic game we used to play. You can only kick the ball when you’re alive. The ball needs to be put into the goal area. Simples.

All vs All Last Man Standing

As simple as it sounds. No rules regarding shaky alliances, but at the end, there will be only one, so at some point, you’ll have to cap your mate before he caps you.

4 vs 4 Last Team Standing

Pick your team. Kill everyone else. Last team alive wins.

Traders :

We can announce that Demon Paintball will be on-site Saturday and Sunday sorting out all your Paint, Pyrotechnics and Gear needs.

Prize Giveaway :

At the end of the day, as you’ve come to expect with a scenario game, there will be a prize giveaway. There has been many-a-prize donated to the cause, with things going away to players of the day, the winners of the last man standings, and more.

Sunday Mashup Game :

We told you we were doing something special for after the game. And we are. As far as i’m aware, this will be the first ever Civil War Re-enactment in paintball. You don't even need a ticket, if you're in the area, come along and experience the madness!

You will be forming up in ranks.

You will move across the field (which is open grassland...)

You will load one ball at a time.

You will all fire in rank order.

You will be under artillery fire.

Someone will survive.

Sound exciting? We think so.

That’s all for now.

Trip.

Announcement

Yet another announcement to wet your appetites.

I can now confirm that we will be having explosions on site. Lots of them. Think Saving Private Ryan, and then imagine yourself being in the film.

These services will be provided by S-Wasp Scenario - Pyrotechnics Division, responsible for such displays as Battle for Kobol, and Carentan. These guys know their stuff, and will be putting on a serious show.

Fuel lifts, Dirt lifts, Water lifts, stuff to shake you to the core. If you don't have brown trousers by the time they're done, you have a stomach of stone.

That's all for now.

Trip.
