Sweet

Gillie, that sounds awesome man.

That's probably the only way paintball in the UK will attract outside sponsorship, if it's seen as a true national event.

Well I'm in... as long as I can get a team for it

Okay is there any interest in forming a Portsmouth Team for the PA League? If there is please PM me and if we've got seven or more players I'll enter us.

I'll Captain if required but if anyone else wants to I would be only too happy. I'd prefer to just be a player (it's far less aggravation)

Shame, just signed up for the CPL,
Is it just me or do we seem to have an over abundance of midlands based tournys?
Between, pbuk, bully, MM and Phoenix events we are over subscribed. Then organisers get upset when teams dont show or dont sign up in abundance. There is only a limited number of times a team can play in a month!

Well good luck with it guys, Maybe see ya next year!

Famine I think you have misunderstood the concept a little - Yes i am sure they will get full current teams playing but you do not have to play it that way indeed the champions of the PA Cup are made up from over half a dozen playing teams.

Now with no insult intended your team name would struggle to get outside sponsorship but if you played on a team called maybe the Oxford bulls or some other geographical name you will have a far better chance of getting some coverage and thus a far better chance of help from your local companys.

So instead of looking at another series of events called the PA league think of it as a helping hand to free paintball and that's what we all want.

They are giving you the spoon at there expense all you have to do is to find the bowl to feed yourself and they will even give you a hand in where to look.
I will tell you this for free no series in all of Europe will be like it so come and see it for yourself.

It's based in the midlands simply because it's a central focal point for the whole country and by it's very nature it is designed to be a NATIONAL series.

Generally south won't travel north and vice versa. Hell, midlands teams even complained that the PA Cup was too far away at an hour and a half.

Imagine Michael Owen turning round saying.."you want me to play in London? Screw that it's way to far to travel...I'll go play for Preston North End this weekend cos it's closer!"

This series is not like any other...it's not "just another paintball tournament"...it was designed and created with one very specific goal in mind...to promote paintball and in doing that we aim to raise the standards, improve the game and increase the level of professionalism in the sport. I want the players to enjoy playing, to get something out of it, to have pride in representing something other than 5 mates who go drinking together and to get something more out of it than "how much gear can we scrounge for free"

As I've said to everyone, it's happening. In fact it's already happened...it's up to each individual whether or not they want to be a part of it. I'm not twisting anybody's arm. If you're happy doing what you're doing then stick with it. But don't moan and bitch about it just because you're not or don't want to be involved.

As I said in an earlier post, and along similar lines to Russel's "spoon" analogy...we've given you the stage and the music...it's up to you guys if you wanna get up and dance!

I guess you misunderstood.
I have no criticism and i think its great.
As for team names, we have plenty of sponsorship :) Pretty much no one pays to play. Yet i do agree that its great for press etc giving a location to a team.
In all honesty i would liked to have supported this event, but having already signed up to another event we will be tied up.
As for teams joining up from one area.
I think most tourny players round cambridge already play in Apoc, the next nearest being the Jags and I dunno but I am sure they are already all booked up for next year.

No whines, no moans.
:)
